Two new Chiddy Bang songs!

July 31st, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Miscellaneous |

I cannot believe I didn’t hear about this sooner (only 1 day late) but Chiddy Bang has released two remixes, one with Jim Jones rapping over “Opposite of Adults” which Xaphoon Jones mixed up a bit for JJ. It turns out to be a good track and I would never imagine Jim Jones and Chiddy Bang collaborating but it turns out to be a great remix.

Also Chiddy Bang released a remix of “California Gurls” by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg, however this is an InnerPartySystem remix with some verses by Chiddy, who does a great job handling the rap part of this summer pop anthem remix.

Both are solid songs, I wouldn’t say they are great but good songs to put out there as Chiddy Bang is hyping people up for the release of their debut album, The Swelly Life, coming out August 24. Another new Kid Cudi track!

July 31st, 2010 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Kid Cudi has released another track, which is possibly going to be on the album. Credit to 2DopeBoyz for first leaking snippets of this song. The song is entitled “Mojo is Dope” and is another hot track by Cudi with some alternative while Cudi continues that sing-rap melody flow. This song will be on his next album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, coming out October 26. ENJOY! Kid Cudi – Mojo So Dope by BeforeTheBigsZach

Brenton Duvall: not just another mashup artist

July 31st, 2010 by | Mashup, Miscellaneous, Remix |

Some people like mashups, others find them annoying. Most of the time they are pretty simple with the DJ mixing two or three songs and it not sounding much different except for a change in lyrics. Enter Brenton Duvall, a DC-based mashup artist who makes the track better through making it a song with a few tracks mixed in as well as adding some beats and remixes.

Below are two of my favorites by him. If you enjoy these songs, check out his soundcloud page with around 13 tracks by him. World Tour (Weezy, Wale, Dre) by BrentonRules Brenton Duvall – Ambien (Sleepy Trip) (Lil Wayne x Passion Pit) by BeforeTheBigsZach

Free sample Friday

July 30th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Miscellaneous |

Today we decided that we want you to hear a few new songs that sample popular songs of the past like DJ Felli Fel samples “Jump” by Van Halen, CurT@!n$ samples “Baba O’Reilly” by The Who, Tijon samples “Use Me” by Bill Withers, and Marky samples “Rocket Man” by Elton John. However they don’t just sample the song, they change it up a bit, add some beats to it, and make it sound like a really good song.  DJ Felli Fel – I Wanna Get Drunk (Feat. Dinner for Schmucks = A+

July 29th, 2010 by | Miscellaneous |

I wanted to take a break from discussing music for a second to review a film I just saw. I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of Dinner for Schmucks and it is absolutely hilarious. This film is hands down the best comedy of the year so far and I highly recommend it to anyone with a decent sense of humor. See if for yourself and let us know what you think!

New Mike Posner

July 28th, 2010 by | Pop |

Mike Posner said he was going to release a track at 6pm EST today and sure enough he released another song off his debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff, coming out August 10. This track titled “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” is produced by Bruno Mars and is another track I just love. I may be bias as I have seen Posner perform twice but honestly the Duke University graduate makes great tracks and he’s only getting better. Below is the new song “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” and also a video of one of the first “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” commercials from Axe. Mike Posner – Bow Chicka Wow Wow by BeforeTheBigsZach

Cleveland, Ohio has got a rapper who is about to make to breakthrough in style. No not Kid Cudi, but Chip Tha Ripper. You may have heard of him as he has appeared in a few of Cudder’s tracks, most notably “Hyyer” off Man on the Moon: The End of Day which is available to listen and download. He has made a handful of his own songs, with his most popular one being “Feel Good.”

Why leave this one out Bobby Ray?

July 28th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, R&B |

B.o.B. aka Bobby Ray left out a song off of his very successful debut album The Great Adventures of Bobby Ray which I am surprised it was not included. “Not Lost” ft. T.I. did not make the cut but is arguably one of his best tracks.
