So last week, we awarded our first “Prospect of the Week” to Mac Miller, an 18-year old Pittsburgh native who recently signed a record deal with Rostrum Records, the same label as Wiz Khalifa. This week he put out the song “Don’t Mind If I Do”, which samples pop/rock band Owl City, and I must say it’s pretty good.

Also this week, an unreleased track by Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa entered the blogosphere, “Fly Solo” and after hearing it, I had to post it. After being named “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010″ by MTV, Wiz Khalifa got a new record deal, signing with Atlantic Records, via his indie label Rostrum Records. Khalifa is launching a 55-date “Waken Baken” Tour in North America in mid-September on the heels of his sold-out “Deal or No Deal” tour this summer.

Both these guys are moving up in terms of popularity and their music is only getting better. Check out “Don’t Mind If I Do” and “Fly Solo”.
