1. How’d you get into making mashups? What inspired you?
I first got into mashups after hearing “Night Ripper” by Girl Talk during the summer of 2007. The whole concept was so cool and it was unlike anything I had ever heard before. I was blown away, so i figured I’d give it a try.
2. Who are your favorite artists?
My favorite mashup artists are Girl Talk and Super Mash Bros. You can’t beat the best in the biz. As far as basic music is concerned, I am obsessed with Passion Pit and
. I love that electronic alternative genre. It’s sick. Phoenix
3. How’d you decide on DJ JewBoy?
DJ JewBoy is a stage name created by a friend of mine, and it stuck. They made me a facebook page and invited their friends and by the time I found out, I had a following and it was too late. Here on campus though, I’m going to still make mashups under DJ JewBoy, but make sets under the name “Madison Mash.”
4. How you feeling about your latest album?
My latest album I am super proud of. While I didn’t spend as much time on it as I did with ChromeKippur, it is still a great representation of my mashup versatility. There are many different types ofmashups in KIIV2. There are continuous Girl-Talk style ones, basic two/three song ones, and mashups I made on turntables during my internship during the last month of senior year of high school. It’s a different taste because I sample a wide range of music, but it’s a great, fun listening experience.
5. What are your plans for the future?
I plan on mashing through college, releasing albums along the way. The next album I’m going to do is going to be a continuous one like Chrome Kippur, but I’m running low on rapper/gangsta/jew puns for album names. So if you have any, please contact me! It won’t be out for a long time so enjoy ChromeKippur and KIIV2 for the time being.
Now your thinking, cool interview, but where can I find all of DJ JewBoy’s music. Download his latest mashup mixtape, Keepin It Is-Real, Vol. 2. Enjoy!
