A few of my favorite blogs already posted this song and I finally realized it was time to post Josh Cocktail. For some reason, it reminds me of Mike Posner in terms of instrumentals, but Josh Cocktail has much better vocals and is more pop. Posner isn’t the best comparison but if Josh Cocktail had Posner’s resources, I can definately see him reaching similar heights and more.

A month late but worth your wait! A collective of mashup artists called the Global Mashup Crew dropped a 10-track mixtape near the end of 2010 called Global Mashup Crew Biggest Hits 2010 (Download).The mixtape is worth downloading; honestly I kept around 7 of the mashups. I love this song, from the beginning with the unique vocals and great chorus from Cee Lo Green, to the rapping from Mack Maine, Ghostwridah and the members of ¡MAYDAY!, this song is a MUST DOWNLOAD.

I put their last mixtape, Lords of the Fly (Download), in our top 10 mixtapes of 2010 list and I really believe the Florida-based alternative hip-hop band is a group to watch in 2011.

If there is an artist to get on board with that more people should know about, it’s Kokayi. Above is the music video for “Roxtar” which is one of my favorite songs from him and the dope single from his Robots & Dinosaurs album (Buy).

If you’re wondering who those animals in the background of the music video are, that’s The Rock-afire Explosion, an animatronic robot band that was widely popular in the 1980′s. You can find more about them here.

“Closing Time” originally came out in March 1998 by a rock band called Semisonic. It was a Grammy Award nominee for Best Rock Song in 1999. This song is still popular to this day and up-and-coming alternative hip-hop group, The Five One just dropped a cool remix of it. They changed up the beat a little bit, adding in a couple rap verses while keeping the same feeling of the original track in it. This is definitely a track worth checking out. Enjoy!

Paper Diamond is the newest signee of Pretty Lights’ label, Pretty Lights Music, and with that their newest EP, Levitate, has dropped with it. Paper Diamond is an up-and-coming electronic DJ, also know as producer, Alex B. He provides some interesting sounds worth checking out. My favorite are “From Now Till…” and “All Green Lights”. Boston rapper Hendersin has just dropped his newest mixtape, Detour, and its a good one. This up-and-coming rapper from Boston has really stepped it up with this one. My favorite tracks are “Watch Me Now” (featuring Collin McLoughlin), “The Way You Are”, and “Sincerely, Yours”. Enjoy these songs and the entire mixtape.

Whole-Z hails from Burlington, Vermont and makes absolutely dope BANGER remixes. Spotted his “Phantom of the Opera” remix on TSIS a couple days ago and that became a MUST POST song and is a MUST DOWNLOAD.

Love that Whole-Z decided to sample a showtunes and a dark show-tune with Phantom of the Opera, throwing in dubstep as well. Plus Whole-Z put in Lil’ Jon saying what he’s famous for to make for a dope remix.

Graffiti6 hasn’t released anything in 2011 yet, but that doesn’t mean they are not going to break out and become huge stars in the US. The London-based rock/pop duo, Graffiti6, formed in 2008 and has garnered national attention lately with MTV listing the band on their artists to watch in 2011 list so credit them on finding this dope artist.

Above is the music video for “Stare Into The Sun” (Download), a catchy neo-soul jam filled with catchy pop instrumentals and lyricism. Below are a couple of my other favorites from Graffiti6.
