The Hot Mess remix is pretty much what his name suggests, the remix is a hot mess of synths over a great Two Door Cinema Club song.
Two Door Cinema Club – What You Know (Hot Mess Remix)
Young Empires add a nice house type beat while also keeping some of the best instrumentals from the original TDCC track.

Lastly Tokyo Police Club created a mashup using their song “Breakneck Speed” with their tour mates Two Door Cinema Club’s song “Something Good Can Work Out”; two of my favorite tracks from each of the respective bands in one, I’m loving this mashup.

2831615030 1 Introducing Jitta On The Track *chill hip hop with good lyricsShout out to Fab4 Music for discovering Jitta and sponsoring his latest mixtape, Paper Bag Music (Download). At first ignored Jitta on The Track’s submissions because I got turned off by how chill the hip-hop was, but then I listened to some more songs and found a few more than was still very chill, but had dope instrumentals too.

Below are three of my favorite Jitta tracks, including two off his latest mixtape.

Remixes with Childish Gambino

February 24th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

childish gambino 600x450 Remixes with Childish GambinoTwo songs with Childish Gambino in the remix. The first came out this week and is a Cheap Thrills remix to his song “Let Me Dope You” featuring Body Language. The relaxing beats and synths Cheap Thrills added is a perfect compliment to Childish Gambino’s rapping. Listen closely for Lil Jon‘s lyrics from “Damn” by YoungBloodZ inserted into the chorus.

2nd song you probably heard if your an avid blogger or read tons of music blogs or check out Hypem.com. In “Rolling in the Deep” Jamie XX remix (of The XX) by Adele, Childish Gambino jumps on the last verses and really turns the song into something special. Skip to around 2:35 in the song for Childish Gambino rapping.

XV – “Finally Home” (featuring Machine Gun Kelly)

February 24th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

finallyhomecover XV Finally Home (featuring Machine Gun Kelly)There is no question that XV got snubbed by XXL Magazine for not putting him on their Freshman ’11 list. However, that hasn’t stopped him from still doing his thing. Earlier this week, Vizzy dropped his newest track “Finally Home” which features Machine Gun Kelly. Cook Classic is on the boards with this one. XV kills it as usual and MGK has really stepped it up going harder than usual. Enjoy!

4 rock songs you never heard * Big Wave Riders, Fez, Hooded Fang & Toy Bombs

February 24th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Rock |

Above is a live performance of Big Wave Riders “It’s Funny Things Aren’t Gonna Change”. I found that group at TBIS but the other three I found on facebook when a friend was looking for new indie rock music. I joined in on the conversation and so did many other people. The bands that other people gave him, I looked them and found a few good ones I should let you know about.

Let me know which of these bands you like the most and I can direct you to more of their music! Anyways, I hope you like these songs and let your friends know any of the songs if you like it, I’m sure it will impress them.
Big Wave Riders – It’s Funny Things Aren’t Gonna Change (relaxed fun cruisin’ along the beach feel)
Fez – Low Light (awesome guitar, overall great instrumentals)
Hooded Fang – Promised Land (this is from 2009 but still very instersting)
Toy Bombs – Free (gritty, love how it’s kind of erractic, even a little southern rock style)

Hopefully these descriptions are accurate, they tend to be all over the place but nonetheless great music.

TheoM Theo Martins Final Fantasy (featuring Starf*cker)Theo Martins teams up with Starf*cker to create one super awesome track. It’s called “Final Fantasy” and it’s off his upcoming mixtape, Sincerely Yours, The Dance Floor. I love the mixing of genres in this track. It has a little bit of hip-hop, pop, and alternative rock put together into one legit sound. Keep up the good work Theo!

Hidden Gem: White Noise *rising 2-song mashup DJ

February 23rd, 2011 by | Hidden Gem, Mashup |

alg four loko Hidden Gem: White Noise *rising 2 song mashup DJWhite Noise is a mashup DJ from Penn State University who is really good at mixing two songs from different genres but making it sound cohesive and overall fairly catchy. By the way when I googled “white noise mashup” this was one of the first images I got besides cover art from some of White Noise’s mashup projects. Anybody still drinking four lokos?

Anyways, here’s three of my recent favorites I have heard from White Noise, however I’m pretty sure two of them came out last year or earlier.

Get ‘Em High Like Planes (Kanye West vs. M.I.A.)

Going Back to Beverly Hills (Notorious B.I.G. vs. Weezer vs. Beverly Hills Cop Theme)

Leonard Already Killed John G

e-dubble – Written Thursdays (mixtape) *DOOOPPPPPEEEEE

February 23rd, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

edubble written thursday album cover e dubble Written Thursdays (mixtape) *DOOOPPPPPEEEEEMy favorite six foot plus white rapper is e-dubble, hands down. His Freestyle Friday series was bold and lasted a year long full of awesome freestyles sampling or freestyling over some great songs you wouldn’t expect an MC to use in a hip-hop song. He truly stands out and in his latest mixtape, Written Thursday (DOWNLOAD), he impresses once again.

He took most of his best songs from his Freestyle Friday series minus the long rambling outro’s. This is probably the best mixtape I have heard in 2011 in terms of value with over 20 really good hip-hop songs, 10 of which are incredible. Below are five of my favorite tracks off e-dubble’s latest mixtape.
Night Table
Board Game
Greenlights
Grounded
Take My Time

I have a feeling this is just the beginning of how dope a 2011 e-dubble is going to have.
