Hip-Pop is a strange genre that’s a mix between catchy pop vocals and/or instrumentals with some hip-hop/rap in there as well. As evidenced below, sometimes it’s a little more pop or a little more rap.

Erik Paul sent us this song about a month ago, at first I wasn’t the biggest fan then it grew on me. Most of Erik Paul’s music you might not like at first but give it a few listens and you may change your mind. Big fan of him bringing a part of the “Love Lockdown” beat in the song but using it subtely.
Erik Paul – So Cold
I forget how I stumbled on Overdoz, I think an artist I followed on twitter or facebook mentioned to download their latest song and for some reason I downloaded it and found that it’s really catchy!
Overdoz – DESTED
Next is a submission from hip-pop duo Rocksoul & Torin Martinez.  This artist attends Berklee College of Music so you know they got potential to get better. It’s chill yet catchy and the instrumentals are beyond dope. This song is off their Welcome Home EP (Download).

The Warriors comes from an SXSW recommendation to listen to them. They hail from Austin, Texas. The song “All Good” has a simple beat, dope rapping and solid vocals. A combination that makes this a worthy song to post.
The Warriors – All Good
Lastly here’s a song that will make you get up and dance and/or sing along because this is probably one of my favorite songs I have heard in the last couple of months. The MIDI Mafia put this song out in 2009 but it sounds new, fun and I want more from this hip-hop/R&B production duo.
The MIDI Mafia – Phamous
