As you can probably tell from my posts, I’m way more into hip-hop, but every once in a while, an alternative band catches my attention, and recently, THE STEELWELLS did just that. They are a 5 piece upbeat, indie rock group out of Fullerton, CA. They caught my attention with their catchy hooks, tight harmonies, and overall very well written songs. They seem to be influenced by bands like Wilco, Dr. Dog, and the Beatles, but they take an old formula and turn it into their own. Check out the single “El Capitan” off their Shallow on the Draft EP which was released in 2009.
These guys are making some serious moves as they just finished up some huge dates with Foster the People, got a feature in this past month’s Rolling Stone magazine, and when they’re not playing shows, they’re working on their next album. Take a second and follow THE STEELWELLS on Facebook and you can buy their CD on itunes here.
