Dance Remix *Moby, Proper Villians, Soundpusher, Cobra Starship, Lightwaves

June 30th, 2011 by | Ambient, Dance, Remix |

Usually I list the artists that get remixed but decided to list the artists that remix the songs in the post title.

First we go with Moby who remixed electronic pop artist Holy Ghost!‘s “Wait & See”. I have never been a fan of Moby, too many people influenced the idea to me that he’s not someone to like so I have never sought out his music. Happy this stumbled its way to my iTunes.
Holy Ghost! – Wait & See (Moby Remix)
Next we go with Proper Villains remix of Dev‘s “Dancing In The Dark”. Proper Villains adds some dope instrumentals to add just another element to a song I normally wouldn’t like but the remix is banging.

Does anybody know how Na Palm has over 225,000 facebook fans!?! That’s so many from a musician whose stuff I haven’t really heard on the radio, haven’t seen anything from him on TV and haven’t heard of any worldwide tour. Either way, The Soundpusher Club-Step Edit to “Two Days Straight” turns this into a banger that needs to be played in the clubs.

Cobra Starship decides to remix a Chromeo song. I like the instrumentals they add, really adds more of an 80’s electro-pop feel to it. Mostly I’m a fan of the Daft Punk-sounding hook but the instrumentals are so smooth.
Chromeo – Hot Mess (Cobra Starship Remix)
Lastly one of my favorite up-and-coming musicians in Australia, Strange Talk, got remixed by Lightwaves. I love the original and the remix has some solid additions, nothing too special but if you like the original, you will really like this. If you like remixes, there’s a good chance you will like this. If you like to dance, this is a fairly solid tune to groove to.

Radical Something – Escape

June 30th, 2011 by | Pop |

New chill-hop/pop from Cali trio Radical Something. Rapping from Loggy is solid, Big Red with the chill Summer feel and Josh Cocktail may be the standout with the vocals and catchy hook. Mostly though I’m a fan of the acoustic guitar but all of these elements go together so well.

Jim Jones – Believe in Magic ft. Lloyd (Prod. by Girl Talk)

June 30th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

A couple reasons I’m blogging about this song.

  1. I’m a big fan of Girl Talk.
  2. This song is ballin’ in the catchy music category.

Had to reference “ballin'” with Jim Jones, who does a decent job on the rapping, Lloyd‘s vocals make the song pop and Girl Talk‘s production is smooth. Is this song on the radio yet?

The Knocks – Sunshine

June 30th, 2011 by | Dance |

The Knocks dropped a new summertime dance party jam called “Sunshine” that’s perfect for summer. It’s upbeat, features some hot gospel samples, and builds up to a massive crescendo before a sick drop. I imagine this as a perfect song to spin at a rooftop pool party like in the Corona commercial the Knocks were in.

Hidden Gem: iPhonic *chill-hop/reggae/jam band

June 29th, 2011 by | Chill/Jam/Reggae, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Hard to categorize Cleveland music group iPhonic. In the two songs I really like from them, I continue to hear elements of reggae, a little chill-hop and overall this fun summer jam band feel. Here’s my two favorites from iPhonic and the last song is their most recent hit, “Love Of the Game” more of electro-pop song with dope features from rapper Machine Gun Kelly and pop artist Aaron LaFette.

Download “Make Her Say”

Download “All Summer”

Download “Love of the Game”

CyHi The Prynce – Royal Flush 2

June 29th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B |

I finally finished listening to all of CyHi The Prynce latest mixtape, Royal Flush 2 (DOWNLOAD). This is a must-download project with G.O.O.D. Music quality all over it. I’m still not the biggest CyHi fan but still peaks my interest for his future music releases.

Mostly I’m a huge fan of the production and features behind this project and envision his debut album to be familiar to the production and features Big Sean got on Finally Famous. Here’s my three favorite tracks from Royal Flush 2, if you believe these tracks are ballin’ like me, then download Royal Flush 2.

Foster the People – Pumped up Kicks (Skeet Skeet Remix)

June 29th, 2011 by | Dance, House, Remix |

Thanks to This Song Is Sick for posting this song. It’s sick… By now, you should’ve heard “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People, and you should realize how awesome it is. This time, Skeet Skeet takes the song, adds some more party to it, and inserts sick drops in the middle. He turned the song from an upbeat indie jam to a serious club song.
