Haven’t done one of these Sampled Saturday editions in a while so here goes five fairly new songs that sample other songs to create something new and different.
First let’s go with Clinton Sparks who sampled The Cars “Just What I Needed”. I love the original, I kind of like Clinton’s new take on it with “She’s A Pro”. “She’s A Pro” has a catchy club-pop sound that can be played anywhere to start the party.
Flo Rida is probably the catchiest, most pop sounding hip-hop artist out there today. You could argue Pitbull as well but in terms of having a slightly more rap sound Flo Rida brings it with “Good Feeling” which is produced by Avicii and samples his “Levels” song. Immediately I downloaded this when I heard the Avicii was on this and Flo’s rapping doesn’t really hurt in how much of a banger the original is.
Next let’s go to a more old school sample with A Cultivator‘s “This World”. Not sure the artist being sampled and I don’t know much about A Cultivator except the rapping can be improved but I can’t knock the soulful sample.
Next we got Cypher Clique with “Say I” which samples Daniel Beddingfield. Sampling a pop song and turning it into an upbeat hip-hop song, I like!
Lastly comes an artist featured on a previous Sampled Saturday. This time Josh Bonney samples M.I.A. giving his hip-hop an alternative feel that some may like and some may dismiss.
If you want more samples, check out WhoSampled.com, a pretty good resource on what song gets sampled and the song that is sampling.
I felt this song is appropriate on a Saturday night as the song title is something I love doing on the weekends. Anway, I’m loving Zomboy‘s versatility in the sounds of “P.A.R.T.Y”, the dubstep is a little laid back with the glitch and overall this is an enjoyable electronic song. P.A.R.T.Y by Zomboy Download
Sex Ray Vision just hit us up with their newest track, “My (Other) Beach House”. This song is a total re-imagined vocal mix of their old track “My Beach House”, which used to be my favorite until I heard this song. My (Other) Beach House by sexrayvision

On August 9, G-Eazy released The Endless Summer (DOWNLOAD). He gets many talented artists featured on the project including Sonny Shotz, Skizzy Mars and KAM Royal. Here’s what G-Eazy had to say about the project:
I sampled primarily doo-wop and rock records from the late 50s early 60s on here, to give it a vintage sound, however I wanted to modernize it by mashing it up with hip-hop drums.
Listen and download G-Eazy‘s latest mixtape, The Endless Summer, below. This is a MUST-DOWNLOAD project as almost every song has this chill-hop vibe that sounds retro with the sampling but new with the rapping and other instrumentals in the production. The Endless Summer by g-eazy
Bastille is a Los Angeles house DJ duo that has performed with acts like Designer Drugs and Brother Ali. They got a real upbeat fun dance sound. As always I gotta bring you the best dance/electronica and I think these guys show potential to become big acts.
Three new tracks from my favorite DJ in Vancouver, DJ Brownjoe. Once he changes his DJ name to something more catchy and appealing, this kid from the great white north is going to blow up. He’s opened for Steve Aoki and The White Panda and is doing some stuff with female pop/electronic duo Nervo as well.
Last week he sent me three new bangers he just finished including a remix to the Skrillex track, “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”. He stripes the song down, pretty much taking out the dubstep, giving it a more dance/house feel that everybody can groove to.
Skrillex – Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (DJ Brownjoe remix)
Next he made a progressive house DJ set that I saw him begin to create back in July with “Bite Me”. It’s got catchy electronic piano instrumentals, synths are banging and reminds me of many other great progressive house tracks out there today.
DJ Brownjoe – Bite Me (Van Kay remix)
DJ Brownjoe created an interesting mashup-remix. He takes Dragonette‘s vocals in “Hello”, then remixes the Alesso remix to Alex Kenji, Starkillers & Nadia Ali‘s track, “Pressure”. However he keeps parts of the vocals from Nadia Ali in “Pressure” as if Nadia Ali and Dragonette are having a sing-off! 5-star banger! DJ Brownjoe – Hello Pressure (feat. Dragonette & Nadia Ali)
I love Alesso‘s remix to “Pressure” so I’ve decided to include that since it’s thirsty Thursday and this is an excellent club banger to bring the party noise.

Jon Connor is probably my favorite rapper with connections to one of the most unemployed cities in America, Flint, Michigan. Random connection but Jon Connor is a hustlin’ rapper with serious flow and potential for greatness. Recently he dropped a music video for “F.L.I. 69″, which has incredible rapping over a catchy gangsta beat that I can’t get enough of. Swag all over this track!
“F.L.I. 69″ is off Jon Connor‘s latest album, Salvation (DOWNLOAD), which came out in July. Listen and download the 2 hottest tracks from the album.
Been getting pretty sick of all these MCs showing they are better rappers than Kreayshawn by rapping over her 1-hit, “Gucci Gucci”. So I look to my rock and pop bands and indie/alternative acts to help offer more meaning in the music.
The Fates are a talented up-and-coming rock/pop band from Boston with an eclectic sound reminiscent of Charlotte, NC rockers Paper Tongues. However as The Fates are a fairly young band, I think they have time to further define their sound and offer new types of music as their career progresses. Jam out to these three tracks from The Fates.
