Jhameel – Walls Down

June 28th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Electropop, Pop |

To celebrate the successful release of the Are You Free musical series, I am excited to share Jhameel‘s surprise encore track, ‘Walls Down’.  We had a great time sharing this past series with you and now you can purchase the 6-track Are You Free EP on iTunes.

‘Walls Down’ is Jhameel’s examination of his own vulnerability and development throughout the creation of Are You Free.  Jhameel’s dramatic encore features fluid, brooding melodies over a pulsing electronic beat, while lyrically it encapsulates how the past series has affected him personally.

Stream “Walls Down” below.

Covers from Manicanparty, Minus Ned and Strange Talk

June 27th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Music Video, Pop, Rock |

Three covers from three very different electric sounding music groups that everybody needs to follow. One group I’ve been a huge fan since 2010, (Strange Talk), another I’ve been a fan of since early this year (Manicanparty), and another I became a fan of today (Minus Ned).

Watch/listen to the three cover songs below in which Manicanparty covers Miike Snow, Minus Ned covers Talking Heads and Strange Talk covers The Police, all groups I absolutely dig covered by three acts I’m loving lately. (more…)

Ridgewood Social Club – Cause We Never Dug Disco

June 27th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Dance, Disco, Electro, Mashup |

Why do I love Cause We Never Dug Disco by Ridgewood Social Club? Not only do I love the disco instrumentals but that the title of the project is a line from my favorite synth disco song, “Rap Music” by Bit Funk. Knowing the RSC mashup duo loves Bit Funk and Nu Disco as much as me, not only brings me joy but I have a certain respect for these guys, especially because they don’t just press play when they perform.

Stream and DOWNLOAD the 4-track mashup EP, Cause We Never Dug Disco, below.
