Tan Sister Radio – Double Single Release *pop, indie

July 24th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Pop |

Southern Californian trio, Tan Sister Radio give our ADD with choosing a “favorite” genre a run for its money. Their singles “Flashing Vents” and “Pancakes” go from light pop-y hooks to scratchy rock instrumentals in the blink of an eye – and they do both quite well!

The vocal switch up is hardly noticeable in the tone but Max Greenhalgh’s singing closes in on Ezra Koenig’s (of Vampire Weekend) nasally and melodic singsong, especially when it is layered with guest star Aimee Jacobs in the harmonies. Sadie Jones takes the mic in “Pancakes,” delivering a much more sinister sound along with drummer Andrew Ware’s rolling drums to showcase The Replacements influence on their overall sound.

These tracks leave you itching for more and their exuberant energy makes for a lot of great live show potential.

Listen to their newest baby, “Flashing Vents”:

Then let “Pancakes” rub your ears the right way:
