It was my first year going and after getting to see my favorite up-and-coming band out of Boston perform, Carousel, I walked up and down the closed off Abbott Kinney Boulevard and saw tons of herbal medicine booths, a “Vote for Rosanne Barr for President” as part of the Peace and Freedom (and Stoner) party, and tons of other people selling massages, clothing, artwork and other stuff you’d normally find along the Venice Beach boardwalk. There were also a ton of cops, a ton of hipster parents and tons of children.

However I came to Abbott Kinney Festival to see Carousel, an up-and-coming indie/electro-pop trio out of Boston who has a sound similar to Miike Snow and will become a huge mainstream act once they get in some more touring and shoot some videos for their songs, which are all great!

I caught most of Carousel‘s set which the crowd seemed to enjoy even if only a few knew their music and many enjoyed their “Dancing On My Own” Robyn cover (which I hope they release). Stream and download my two favorites I heard them perform.
