Today is a busy day, so this will be quick. Our friends in Mister Mistress released a remix for the holiday. It mashes Childish Gambino’s “Fuck Your Blog” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”, along with a new verse from Mister Mistress.
Shout out to @DeanRisko for recommending Zak Waters, a pop/funk artist out of LA with a smooth yet upbeat fun sound. But rather than continue to describe his sound, listen to these songs from Zak Waters below. (more…)
Last Monday, I saw Mind the Gap, Young Hunting and Jhameel at The Bootleg Theater as part of Jhameel‘s December residency at the Silverlake/Echo Park area music venue. Read below for my review. (more…)
Our favorite hip-hop group from San Diego, Vokab Kompany, has released, “Don’t Owe You” their latest single and video from their upcoming collaboration album with Crush Effect. The album, titled VKCE, drops December 18 and I can’t wait for it. If the previous collaborations with VK and CE are any indication what’s to come between these two exciting up-and-coming acts, then this will be a must-listen album!
Listen to “Don’t Owe You” below.
Watch the official video to “Don’t Owe You” and a special download link for the song below. (more…)
If there’s two music acts indie pop acts I’m intrigued by and want to see live, it’s St. Lucia and Pacific Air. With this remix, you get the best of both worlds, combining both their upbeat fun indie electro pop vibes to create a fun indie dance remix.
Stream and download St. Lucia‘s “All Eyes On You” (Pacific Air remix) below.
Last Friday night I saw indie dance pop band Capital Cities perform their last LA show for a long time as they prepare to hit the studio to record their next album. It was a packed audience with lots of passionate fans who sang along to most of Capital Cities releases and while this was my 3rd time seeing them live, they continued to impress with a more upbeat slightly improved set list, more dancing on stage among the founding duo of the band with a uniform clothing style of all band members wearing gold/yellow jackets.
It felt almost magical seeing them live as most of the audience and I knew this would be Capital Cities last Los Angeles show for the year and maybe the next several months. I loved the show because it was the fans way of getting to celebrate Capital Cities recent signing under the Capital Records imprint.
Big things continue to happen for Capital Cities and if you haven’t seen them live, I suggest you try to do so soon before they start selling out arenas all over the world.
Here’s a great why you should see them live: “Safe & Sound”.
“Chocolate rainfalls and vanilla swirls, infinite climaxes and toes that curl. Release your inhibition, this is no exhibition cause giving you pleasure is my soul mission.” -DJ Eazy Dick
Mister Mistress and DJ Eazy Dick have teamed up to bring you the Smooth Hour. Thirty three and a half minutes of… well, actually not one word could describe this tape. It hits with a fresh new sound that is just so eargasmic.
This song, T.K.O. ft PC, is a stand-out track for me.
