Review: Jamie N Commons live at The Grammys offices

It’s been an amazing experience and one of my favorite parts of it is when artists drop by to perform a few songs for us. The latest act, Jamie N Commons, was signed by mega-hit producer Alex Da Kid, whose record label, Kid In A Korner, also has Imagine Dragons on the label.

Anyways Jamie N Commons WILL BE A STAR! The dude has a unique voice that as Alex Da Kid described as a “timeless instrument”. Listening to him live was like wandering through nature being lost and then hearing Jamie’s raspy Johnny Cash-like vocals guiding you to the direction you need to take. His voice will take him far and my favorite part of their brief performance was when the pianist and the bassist (who didn’t have his bass) sang with Jamie to create awesome harmonized vocals on some of the choruses. It was a great performance and Jamie N Commons are an extremely humble band to keep an eye on as they are currently in the studio working on their major label debut album.

Below are two songs he performed which I absolutely loved, “Wash Me In The Water” and “Lead Me Home” (which was used in AMC’s The Walking Dead) (more…)

Review: Madi Diaz live at Bootleg Theatre

August 15th, 2013 by | Concert/Festival Review, Electropop, Pop, Rock |

1150883 10101180172636426 1669537961 n 600x600 Review: Madi Diaz live at Bootleg TheatreA couple days ago, I had the pleasure of seeing electro pop/rock act Madi Diaz at LA’s Bootleg Theatre. I originally came to see electro indie pop duo Carousel thinking they would be going on at 9pm but however stumbled upon Madi Diaz, who was a joy live. Before seeing her live, I had only known her music through her vocals being used on what I consider the most underrated summer jam of 2012, Viceroy‘s “Chase Us Around”.

Madi Diaz has an 80′s vibe minus the reliance on synths and with more of a rock vibe. She’s a up-and-coming artist you should keep an eye on as she engages the audience with her booming voice that creates a fun vibe seeing them live. It’s very easy to dance to their music and some of the hooks are quite catchy. I highly recommend seeing Madi Diaz live as this is an artist I hope gets the recognition they deserve and get a major record deal as Madi could become a star if connected with the right people and set up open for acts like Tegan & Sara or Haim.

Anyways, here’s my favorites from Madi Diaz, which is also her newest song.
