Even though the show started late and I couldn’t catch all of Skylar Spence’s set because of work the next morning, I still had a great time and discovered a new band I hadn’t heard before, Kero Kero Bonito.

FullSizeRender 600x338 Review: Con Bro Chill, Magic Giant and Monogem at The Troubadour
Last night I was fortunate enough to get put on the guest list to cover indie electronic folk band Magic Giant who combine the harmonic grassroots elements of folk with some dubstep-type beats in parts of some of their songs. But what makes Magic Giant really stick out is there high energy performances from each member for the 4-piece band. This was my 4th time seeing them live, the first time over a year ago at the first ever (and best) Daybreaker LA when not only did they perform but Eric Sharp played the best morning dance set ever. Listen to that set in the morning and it will bring you the best vibes to start your day. Anyways I’m getting off topic. Below is my review of the show in which I saw Monogem perform a couple songs, Magic Giant perform about 6 songs including an Outkast “Hey Ya” cover and Con Bro Chill bring their neon lights party that maybe showed me what partying in the 80′s was like as every song they performed was about partying.

Review: Hozier at the Theatre at Ace Hotel *great band, great voice

Hozier ANW Picture2 600x397 Review: Hozier at the Theatre at Ace Hotel *great band, great voiceHozier is not the best musician I’ve seen live but he is a crowd pleaser, get’s everybody involved in singing along to his tunes and has a great band backing a great voice. I had the pleasure of getting on the guest list for Live From The Artists Den production of Hozier live at Ace Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. Hozier performed over 12 songs including an Ariana Grande cover which turned into a mashup with Warren G’s “Regulate”, it was really awesome to sing along to. Also his pleasant cover of Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird” was beautiful as were his original songs from the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter. He was magical on stage and I recommend seeing Hozier live. (more…)

Review: Jeremy Loops and Brick + Mortar live at The Roxy

CRYR9dmUcAAeQS8 600x353 Review: Jeremy Loops and Brick + Mortar live at The RoxyLast night I got to catch two artists I’ve never seen or really dug deep into to be quite honest. However after the show, I left a huge fan, scanning the internet for as much of their material as possible as Brick + Mortar and Jeremy Loops were two incredible bands that got the party started on hump day last night at The Roxy in West Hollywood. This was the first night of their tour together and both DIY artists really impressed the young millennial audience by crafting jams that were hand-clapping, raise your fist in the air pop/rock fun. Review: Oliver Riot at The Satellite

oliver riot 600x400 Review: Oliver Riot at The Satellite
So instead of catching Kid Cadaver for their residency at Bootleg Theater this past Monday, I skipped out after SOTRW to see my friend Ben and his band Oliver Riot jam out with their raw acid folk which was quite fun. I don’t remember any of the original songs quite well but my favorite was their “Riptide” cover by Vance Joy. The crowd was asking for it and they played it; it was so awesome and a lot of fun to hear that song.

Here’s a video of them performing on The Tomorrow Show with their song “Alcatraz” which now I remember them playing Monday at The Satellite and just jamming out. This is my favorite original song from them. (more…)

Review: Story Of The Running Wolf at Bootleg Theater

October 8th, 2015 by | Electropop, synthpop |

hqdefault Review: Story Of The Running Wolf at Bootleg TheaterThis past Monday I caught Story Of The Running Wolf, who opened for the first night of Kid Cadaver’s residency on Monday nights at the Bootleg Theater. SOTRW is a nostalgic 80′s band with good synth pop/electro pop vibes. The two-piece band really jams out and dresses in awesome attire. My favorite song was the last one they finished with, “Stratospheric” because it sounded like a Porter Robinson song I love and how the song builds is pretty cool. They released their Electric EP last month, stream it below which has my favorites “Electric” and “Stratospheric”.

IMG 5665 600x600 Review: Years & Years and Tei Shi live at The WilternLast Wednesday I went to The Wiltern to see Tei Shi and Years & Years live at The Wiltern. It was a great show and mostly worth the price of admission as Years & Years was incredible and Tei Shi was pretty decent in getting the crowd in the right mood for the sold out show. Read more for my review.
