Last night I was fortunate enough to get put on the guest list to cover indie electronic folk band Magic Giant who combine the harmonic grassroots elements of folk with some dubstep-type beats in parts of some of their songs. But what makes Magic Giant really stick out is there high energy performances from each member for the 4-piece band. This was my 4th time seeing them live, the first time over a year ago at the first ever (and best) Daybreaker LA when not only did they perform but Eric Sharp played the best morning dance set ever. Listen to that set in the morning and it will bring you the best vibes to start your day. Anyways I’m getting off topic. Below is my review of the show in which I saw Monogem perform a couple songs, Magic Giant perform about 6 songs including an Outkast “Hey Ya” cover and Con Bro Chill bring their neon lights party that maybe showed me what partying in the 80′s was like as every song they performed was about partying.

They have a fun California-chill vibe sound going on and producer Scott Michael Smith has crafted a smooth sound with lead singer Jen Hirsh. Stream my two favorites from Monogem, “Silhouette” and “Stay With Me”.

Even though their set wasn’t super long, they got the crowd to sing and dance along to their vibes as their folk pop vibe was a lot of fun to see live. Stream my favorites from them, “Let It Burn” and “Glass Heart”. Don’t forget to listen to their new song, “Set On Fire“.

Although I wish I saw more gender diversity in the crowd for them, their music can easily be described in 1 word: PARTY. Every song has the word party in it and these Portland electro-pop/rockers love to party it seems. It creates a fun vibe and I can see the Con Bro Chill movement getting more and more popular as more people are exposed to it. Watch my favorites below which features Grammy-award winning songwriter Sam Martin on lead vocals with his brother and former college lacrosse star, Conner Martin as the band leader.
