Kyko FI 600x450 Kyko *tropical electronic pop/rockThe latest Hidden Gem I got for you is London outfit Kyko. Formed in 2014, this young pop band is crafting a sound that keeps getting better. They just released “Nature” which is very Vampire Weekend/Paul Simon‘s Graceland-esque and I LOVE IT! They released “Nature” earlier this month and before that have had excellent releases on their soundcloud.

I discovered this band through a reddit post about people looking for music influenced by Graceland and African artists that influenced Paul Simon in making that classic album. I first heard Kyko’s “Animals” and fell in love with the tropical laid back pop/rock vibe that is very easy to groove to. Once I heard “Nature” and the several other songs on their soundcloud, I was hooked and hand to feature them on BtB.

Stream “Nature”, “Native” and “Animals” below. (more…)

PNAU – Chameleon *Empire of the Sun side project release

November 9th, 2016 by | Dance, Electro, Electropop, Music Video |

unnamed 600x399 PNAU Chameleon *Empire of the Sun side project release“Chameleon” is the first single from acclaimed electronic act PNAU in over four years and it’s a fun electro pop track. Constantly inspired by the emotional weight of our world, “Chameleon” is spiritually anchored in the medicinal plant culture of the Peruvian Amazon and laced with all the energy we expect of the Australian outfit comprised of Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and newest member Sam Littlemore.

Not shy of output over the last 12 months, Nick Littlemore has dropped new Empire Of The Sun material (also produced by Mayes), a White Shadows EP (Nick and Sam Littlemore’s project with The Vines’ Craig Nicholls) as well as a forthcoming ambient collaboration with Celia Pavey, aka Vera Blue, all of which provide a true picture of PNAU’s expanding interest, influence and creative energy. Sam Littlemore (multi-ARIA Award-winning super producer) joins the inseparable duo of Nick and Peter to bring a wealth of new material into fruition. Having been involved as producer for their 2007 self-titled album, Sam is an integral part of PNAU, all genetics aside. The single “Chameleon” also welcomes the addition of Shakira Marshall, previously a dancer and back-up singer for Ms. Lauryn Hill on vocals bringing a new and electrifying layer to the band’s vision for 2016.
