KAM Royal – Lyrical Exercise

October 24th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Hot new track from KAM Royal, with tight production, and some witty lyrics from Kam. Make sure you don’t miss this one. I hate to compare anyone to Childish Gambino, and it might be a stretch, but Kam’s lyrics are similar.

Mike Ballz – Back to the Circus (Prod. by J.Dilla)

October 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Great beat, and as always, commanding flow from Mike Ballz. It’s always tough to come off of a track as great and successful as “One Man,” but Mike pulls it off. With a track that may very well be better than his debut single. Paired with a classic beat from J.Dilla (pictured above), this ones quickly becoming a favorite.

Kinetics & One Love remixes – Video Games x If I Die Young

October 20th, 2011 by | Remix |

Kinetics & One Love remix Lana Del Rey‘s “Video Games,” the latest installment of their mashup/remix album Cross-Fading Back to Normal. The full project will soon be available as a free download so watch out for that.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games (Remix ft. Kinetics & One Love)

Here’s a little bit of an older track, but still a jam. I don’t quite know why, but for some reason, the sample of “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry sounds great with almost anyone’s voice.

Timeflies – iTribute (in memory of Steve Jobs)

October 20th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Cal and Rez, the duo that makes up Timeflies, gives us another one of their weekly drops. This time dedicating it to the late Steve Jobs. The entire thing was done by Apple products, recording, mixing, and mastering. Tight production as always by Rez, and flawless and clever lyrics from Cal. Which is what I’ve come to expect from this duo.

DJ Epic – Get One (Krewella x Foreign Beggars x Skrillex)

October 11th, 2011 by | Electro, Mashup, Remix |

Pittsburgh’s DJ Epic, mixes my all time favorite dubstep track by Skrillex, “Still Getting It“, with the dubstep-pop “One Minute” from newcomer Krewella, a good mix of vocals with some serious whomps and wobbles. This track has so much bass and energy, it will melt your speakers!

For me, I find electro music extremely difficult to listen to when it doesn’t have vocals. So this track is perfect for me.

Sid Sriram – 2 AM Prayer

October 10th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, R&B |

I’m sorry Frank Ocean, Sid Sriram is better. After spending an entire afternoon listening to all 41 of his YouTube videos, I am convinced he’s the best vocalist out there right now; not only making originals but covering other artists songs. I fall in love with anything he touches.

Check out the video for “2 AM Prayer” after the jump, and look for the free download in the description.

Jacob Es – Under My Brim x The Next Level x Pumped Up Kicks (video)

October 9th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Two very different songs, by one unique artist. Jacob Es shows off his versatility on both of these tracks, with great writing, and SMOOTH flow. I know, I say that a lot, but in this you can truly hear how smooth he is. Like he was born to rap, Jacob Es was born to be on Before the Bigs. Both of these tracks will appear on his mixtape “Peace of Mind.” Stay tuned into Before the Bigs for the latest on Jacob. Oh, and he’s got mad sense in style, rocking Charlie Like the River necklaces,  a favorite of Yours Truly.

Beau Young Prince – Get Busy

October 8th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Beau’ Young, formally known as Young Prince, shows off his ability to do it all, producing, writing and rapping. Killing his own production, Beau’ gives it to us with a heavy bass line beat that fits perfectly for “riding around to” like he says. Download his latest mini-mixtape, Beautiful Things, and vibe to this newest track.

Pmac – When I’m Gone

October 7th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Another dope visual from Pmac’s debut mixtape, “First Impressions.”  A very inspirational song with great production done by Pmac himself, with the help of P.Beatz. The video, handled by Jmic and Adrian Per, documents some of his performances, opening up for Mike Posner, and at San Francisco State. Download the song here and peep the video after the jump.

Frank Ocean – Her

October 7th, 2011 by | R&B |

I’m convinced Frank Ocean is the best singer in the world. There is something about his voice that makes me melt, whether he’s covering something, or being creepy as hell in Odd Future videos, remixing, or make originals. Although he is one of the more…..calm…members of Odd Future, he’s still pretty out there. If this song doesn’t make you melt, I’m questioning your soul.
