We also made sure to select artists that very little to none of our friends liked and knew about, to further strengthen the idea that these 18 tracks are the Best You’ve Never Heard.

k.flay, Lesands, The Chain Gang of 1974 and Tic Tic Boom! at The Echo

November 22nd, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Concert/Festival Review, Electronic Rock, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Last night at The Echo in Silverlake, I saw a slew of awesome musicians. K.Flay, Lesands, The Chain Gang of 1974 and Tic Tic Boom! all rocked the place with style. The show was special in the fact that it consisted of artists and groups on a wide range of genres and not one specific type of music and it was Chain Gang’s last night of their residency at The Echo.

It varied from a female rapper with great electronic beats, indie and alternative rock, and more. Even though it was on a Monday night and the crowd wasn’t as large as I expected, the show was still amazing. Enjoy my favorite tracks from the show below!

Justice – Audio, Video, Disco (album)

October 25th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Disco, Electro, Electronic Rock, Electronic Tuesday, House, synthpop |

big359Justice Audio Video Disco 600x400 Justice Audio, Video, Disco (album)Today a real treat of an album came out from French electro/rock duo Justice. The album, Audio, Video, Disco is a mix of synths and electronic rock that are pumping with energy, banging with rhythm and overall having a consistenly awesome sound with various genres interlaced including electro, arena rock, disco-house and much more.

I enjoy almost every song on Audio, Video, Disco, there’s such an epic kind of sound apparent in many of the songs on the album with an almost cinematic production applied.

Here’s my five favorites from the latest Justice album that we haven’t posted yet.

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Rio de Fuego *electronic single

October 8th, 2011 by | Dance, Electronic Rock |

Robotic Pirate Monkey Rio de Fuego *electronic singleShout out to Freedzy for turning me onto Boulder, Colorado electronic artist, Robotic Pirate Monkey. Recently RPM’s management sent us “Rio de Fuego” the first single off their upcoming project to be released on Halloween! I just love the instrumentals which incorporate various elements not common with most electronic songs. “Rio de Fuego” isn’t one of those songs filled with synths but sounds real natural.

Ninjasonik – Mosh Pit *electronic rock/hip-hop rager!

June 9th, 2011 by | Electronic Rock, Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

Ninjasonik Mosh Pit 500x484 Ninjasonik Mosh Pit *electronic rock/hip hop rager!New hip-hop over electronic rock beats with Ninjasonik‘s latest song, “Mosh Pit”. A hip-hop banger to rage to! Seriously if you are not following Ninjasonik on facebook and twitter, do that now and download this upbeat jam. “Mosh Pit” is the first single off Ninjasonik‘s upcoming 2nd album, Peter Pan Syndrome, due out September 20.

Bonus: Heard this recently although it came out a few months ago. DJ Skeet Skeet remixes, “That Your Girl” an electro-pop song featuring Ninjasonik and originally by Mattie Safer. I love the beats Skeet Skeet throws onto it, turning it into a more dance-style club remix.

dates anamanaguchi tour 2011 13044044938669 Anamanaguchi *Electronic rock! With their upbeat electronic rock Anamanaguchi have this perfect video game music sound. Well that’s selling it short, as its much better than that! A brief bio:

We are Anamanaguchi. We make hyper-active, hyper-positive 8-bit jams that epicly wail with guitars and drums.

Anamanaguchi considers their music a mix of 8bit, punk and fast power pop: overall it makes for a cool retro video game style Below are two of their recent songs, “My Skateboard Will Go On” is a must-download if you like upbeat electronic/rock music that sounds too good for somebody to lay vocals on.

Justice – Civilization (video + mp3)

May 27th, 2011 by | Electronic Rock, Music Video |

Justice Civilization (video + mp3)French electronic duo Justice are so talented. We heard “Civilization” a while back as part of an Adidas commercial then the full song was released building even more buzz on the latest from Justice. Justice has created an immense amount of excitement based on a single track, building the anticipation over a course of months, not weeks.

Today they dropped the official music video and I was surprised by how stunning the visuals are as the backdrop for such an epic dance/electronic tune.

Hidden Gem: StartYourOwnRebellion (mixtape+video)

May 8th, 2011 by | Electronic Rock, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

startyourownrebellion lp3020 Hidden Gem: StartYourOwnRebellion (mixtape+video)StartYourOwnRebellion is a alternative/hip-hop quartet that recently started getting much attention with their song featuring J. Cole. They are also being pushed by J. Cole’s Dreamville imprint, which means a lot to most hip-hop heads considering J. Cole is one of the best up-and-coming artists out there.

I found out SYOR put out a mixtape, LP3020 (download), which uses production from Ratatat. Also they did a music video for one of my favorite songs, “Right Here”, which uses interesting Japanese anime, real cool. Below is a few of my favorites and after the jump you can find their music video for “Right Here”.
