Review: Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness live at Belasco Theater

May 11th, 2017 by | Miscellaneous |

Last Wednesday I caught alternative pop artist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness live at Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. He was electrifying hopping on top his grand piano several times, engaging the audience more than I’ve seen most other acts ever do and constantly was moving around and getting down to the music he and his band were playing. It was a great performance that I felt like was never going to end and he did nearly every song I love from him, except “I’m Ready” from his Jack’s Mannequin catalog. But I’ll forgive him for not playing that as he introduced me to many new songs of his that I’m a big fan of now.

My favorites in his set were his latest single, the catchy “Fire Escape”, which he opened with; fun love song “Dead Man’s Dollar”, dance pop song “So Close”, “Synesthesia” which was so beautiful as there were a variety of colorful lights and I just love the song title of this uplifting pop song and most well-known song “Cecilia and the Satellite”. Also, he did a fantastic cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”, getting the opening band Night Riots performing it with his band.

Review: X Ambassadors – The Reason EP

April 3rd, 2014 by | Miscellaneous |

X Ambassadors recently put out a new EP, The Reason EP, that has 5 tracks I pretty much love. It’s hard to describe their sound but with production from Alex Da Kid (Imagine DragonsJamie N Commons), you know this is a project you need to listen to! The production is superb, the lyrics are catchy from beginning to end and it’s a rock album that has great instrumentals as well.

Stream the 5-track EP below and purchase it on iTunes if you are feeling it’s as legit as I feel it is. I seriously enjoy all the tracks so stream it below to see what all the hype is about.

Tonight I will be seeing them in Los Angeles and can’t wait to hear what they have to offer live. Below find out if they are coming to your hometown.  (more…)

Brand new hit from up & comer, Jon Bellion. This is a real solid blend of strong vocals and a catchy electronic beat, produced and written by Jon himself. I just recently became familiar with this artist, but he is definitely going to stay on my watch now.

Guest Mix: Music to play Poker to

June 15th, 2012 by | Miscellaneous |

So I stumbled on an interesting article by Sean Lind over at about the Top 5 Albums to Play Poker to. I thought it was a good article on poker music because it featured an album I love, Ratatat‘s Classics, and provided me some new albums to follow up. However I’m not a fan of his choice of Modest Mouse as “Float On” just sounds depressing and whiny as does most of their album.

I decided to list 5 songs to play poker to in response to the article on Stream these five songs below and let me know which you find get’s you in the zone when playing poker and songs you would include. (more…)
