A-Trak – Ray Ban Vision remix ft Donnis, Pill, Danny Brown

April 10th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

A-Trak has been holding on this for a while, but he just released the remix to his song “Ray Ban Vision” off the Fools Gold Records Compilation. The original song had only CyHi on it, but the remix features additional verses by Donnis, Pill, and Danny Brown. The beat is crazy and each rapper goes hard. A-Trak talks about the fusion of rap and club/dance music, and I think “Ray Ban Vision” does exactly that.

Catchy songs to party to *Akon, The Academy, Ian Carey & Robyn

February 2nd, 2011 by | Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Remix |

Below are four songs I have been waiting too long to blog about that are upbeat catchy songs that fall under either electronica, pop, hip-hop or a little bit of all three.

“It’s On” by The Academy came out in late December and is a great song to start the party and/or pre-gaming. “Industructable” by Robyn is a good song (video above) but then A-Trak remixes it (remix below) to make for a dope Electro-Pop track and a must listen for partying. “Last Night” is by Ian Carey and features Bobby Anthony and Snoop Dogg for a party song that should be on the radio if it isn’t already. Lastly, Akon recently released “Wake Up Call (One More Time)”, another catchy electronic pop hop jam that will be on the radio, played in the clubs and is a good song to blast at parties.

The Academy – It’s On
Robyn – Indestructible (A-Trak Radio Edit)
Ian Carey – Last Night ft. Bobby Anthony & Snoop Dogg
Akon – Wake Up Call (One More Time)

Summer catch up (2 new videos)

December 1st, 2010 by | 24KT KidLivin, Dance, Electro, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video, Techno |

Although this video came out over the summer, we feel it was one greatly overlooked. Filmed with a retro feel to match its retro sound, Ronson teams up with one of hip-hop’s greats, Q-Tip, and quirky synth-pop artist MNDR (pronounced Mandar) to create this euro-retro masterpiece anyone can dance to.

Here’s another video to a song that came out in the early summer that got a lot of attention. Directed by So Me, this video features not only the DJ duo of Duck Sauce (Armand Van Helden and A-Trak) but QuestLove, Santigold, members of the Fool’s Gold family, Kanye West, Dave 1 and P-Thugg of Chromeo, The Fat Jew, Pharrell, Yelawolf, Diplo, DJ Premier, Just Blaze, DJ Mehdi, Buckshot, Dust La Rock, Ryan Leslie, Ezra Koeing of Vampire Weekend, Fafi,
Smif N’ Wessum, Todd Terry, Pill, and, of course, a Barbara Streisand look alike (kind of).
Isn’t it nice to see all the people who make the music we love so much, getting along? Check it out and let us know if you see anyone we missed – There’s no way we got them all.

CyHi Da Prince – Prospect of the Week

October 22nd, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video, Prospect of the Week |

Tapped one of Kanye West’s proteges, CyHi Da Prince is one of the latest G.O.O.D. Music artists making waves. He was featured on Kanye West’s “So Appalled” and included in the G.O.O.D. Music cypher at the 2010 BET Music Awards.

If you haven’t heard of the Georgia-native yet, soon you will hear a lot more (after Kanye’s album drops).

Above is the music video for “SideWays” (Download), the first single off CyHi Da Prince’s latest mixtape, Royal Flush, which dropped this month.

Here are a couple of my favorite CyHi Da Prince tracks.

The New Guy’s First Post: Duck Sauce

September 27th, 2010 by | Disco, House, Techno, Trance |

Hello readers,
My name is Adrian, and I will be your guide to electronic music on this blog. You can find out more about me in my bio but I feel I should introduce myself a little at least.

The majority of readers probably don’t care where I grew up or what boring major I have. So instead I have compiled a list of all the major electronic music acts I’ve seen over my years as my credentials, which is probably what you guys care more about anyway.

Boys Noize, Laidback Luke, Erol Alkan, Diplo, Shadow Dancer, D.I.M., LA Riots, Green Velvet, DJ Dan & Donald Glaude, Deadmau5, Moderat, 2manyDJs, The Bloody Beetroots, Danger, DJ Mehdi, A-trak, Kaskade, Pendulum, Groove Armada, ATB, Benny Benassi , Fedde le Grand, Above and Beyond, Rank 1, Armin Van Buuren, Fake Blood, Simian Mobile Disco, Computer Club, Yoji, Crystal Method, Marcus Schultz, Pendulum, Jack Beats, Boy 8-Bit, Carte Blanche, Bingo Players, Dada Life, Bart B More, Congorock, Dirty South, Swedish House Mafia, Z-Trip, Wolfgang Gartner, Afrojack, Basement Jaxx, Armand Van Helden, Moby, Duck Sauce, Harvard Bass, Surkin, Brodinski, SonicC, Chris Lake, 12th Planet, Daedalus, Riva Starr, Treasure Fingers, The Twelves, Breakbot, Proxy, Tiga, Flying Lotus, Digitalism, Soulwax, DJ Sneak, Chromeo, and THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS.

As you can see from this list, I am much more inclined towards house and electro, but I will do my best to introduce my readers to a wide variety of electronic music genres.

Today I will be introducing you to Duck Sauce, a disco-house collaboration between two very skilled producers/DJs, Armand Van Helden and A-trak. This collaboration is relatively new (about a year old), but has absolutely taken the electronic world by storm with their funky beats.

They don’t have many songs because of this, but every release has been pure quality. Enjoy!
