After spending an entire afternoon listening to all 41 of his YouTube videos, I am convinced he’s the best vocalist out there right now; not only making originals but covering other artists songs. I fall in love with anything he touches.

Hidden Gem: ROSSY *acoustic hip-pop

July 19th, 2011 by | Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

Hidden Gem: ROSSY *acoustic hip popROSSY jumped onto the scene last summer when he collaborated with Chris Young The Rapper on “Move Slow” last Summer. Then in June, they collaborated again on “Twist Another One Up“, a catchy Summer anthem. In July, Rossy released The Crush (DOWNLOAD), a dope 4-track hip-pop project that is a must-download.

ROSSY reminds me recently of Dave Patton as he’s got catchy summer fun vocals, chill acoustic instrumentals and potential for mainstream success. Anyways, here’s the 4-track project, The Crush. My favorites are “Move Slow” and “Everybody Wants To Hook Up”, both featuring Chris Young.

Introducing Windoview

April 6th, 2011 by | Pop |

Windoview 600x600 Introducing WindoviewWindoview is not a typical artist we feature on here. An acoustic trio of 17 year olds from the suburbs of Philadelphia. Perfect for summer time, warm nights, bonfires, and beach fun. These guys definitely lock in on that Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and Eric Hutchinson vibe, yet perform with their own style and originality.

Guitars, harmonicas and ukuleles?  Yessir, Windoview is definitely a musical breath of fresh air. I find it hard to explain why I like them but something about the vocals and acoustic instrumentals interests me in Windoview.

They have recently finished their debut album, Pine Island, which is available on iTunes. Here’s my two favorites from the album.
Windoview – City Lights
Windoview – 4am
You can listen to the full album on their bandcamp page. Be sure to follow Windoview on facebook and twitter.
Bonus:
Since were on the subject of dope acoustic music, here’s a campfire acoustic version of one of my favorite songs by The Knocks, “Dancing With The DJ“.

pop it on the radio *Jessie J, Aaron LaFette, Bob Sinclar & Ray Ray

March 3rd, 2011 by | Pop |

We don’t post a lot of pop songs on here because generally I don’t like how cheesy they can be (example above from Jessie J’s acoustic “Price Tag” video). However these songs should all be on the radio, are really catchy and I love how upbeat they are. Once again I’m reaching back to 2010 with a couple of these tracks but I guarentee there’s a couple you haven’t heard.

First is the Jessie J ft. B.o.B “Price Tag” version you probably have heard on the radio. Jessie J is very talented (as evidenced by her strong vocals above) and a must watch artist. I’m sure she’s going to be headlining a world tour within a couple years at most but before superstar B.o.B. who jumped on this track to turn it into gold.

Jessie J – Price Tag ft. B.o.B. (Prod. By Dr. Luke)

Next comes a track which came out in fall 2010 by Aaron LaFette. “Wrapped Around My Finger” is a really catchy club hit, sounds like Bruno Mars could do this and it would be on the radio. Not knocking Aaron LaFette, but if the Cleveland artist were more popular this would be a more mainstream song. Let’s hope that changes.

Aaron LaFette – Wrapped Around My Finger

Next is a much more mainstream song from Bob Sinclar ft. Ben Onono called “Rainbow of Love”. Such an uplifting positive song about rainbows and nice looking things in the sky. Whatever, don’t really care about the lyrics in this, just like how upbeat the instrumentals and synthed up vocals are.

Bon Sinclar – Rainbow of Love feat. Ben Onono

Lastly I want to introduce you to Ray Ray who hit me up with “Higher”. Ray Ray has the potential to be mainstream pop radio hit who reminds me of older Chris Brown with less hip-hop. If Jason DeRulo can get on the radio, then so should Ray Ray.
