Asher Roth – “Pabst and Jazz” (featuring Hassani Kwess & Kenny Keys)

December 14th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Asher Roth releases his newest track “Pabst and Jazz” off his next mixtape with the same name. Just from the title alone you can tell it’s a slow relaxing sound with some jazz influence mixed with hip-hop in it which is always nice. The rapping is solid as well. I look forward to the release of the entire mixtape on Tuesday, in the meantime, enjoy!

Video: Asher Roth – Last Man Standing ft. Akon

September 16th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Attention hip-hop radio stations across the universe: put “Last Man Standing” on your playlist! If hip-hop stations knew what was good for them, they would play Asher Roth‘s new hit, “Last Man Standing” which features Akon on the hook. This is a dope song, a bonified hit. MTV you should be putting this music video on as well, this song is dope and further proves Asher Roth is NOT a one-hit wonder!

Peter Rosenberg: What’s Poppin Vol. 1 ft Asher Roth, Childish Gambion, StS & many more

September 13th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Peter Rosenberg & Popchips Present: What’s Poppin Vol. 1. Pretty cool sponsorship from popchips which are increasingly rising into my top 5 favorite chips after Funyuns, Doritos and any guacomole chips. Anyways, this hip-hop mixtape is filled with some relaxed hip-hop jams. Here’s my three favorites off the mixtape. Download mixtape.

Asher Roth – Goodbye

StS – Ahhh Yeah

J. Cole ft. SD & Childish Gambino – Who Datt Pt. 2 (Prod. by J. Cole)

Asher Roth – Another One Down (Ft. D.A Wallach)

July 17th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Asher Roth‘s newest track “Another One Down” seriously shows that his “I Love College” frat rap days are long gone. Asher doesn’t need to talk about drinking and partying. He’s actually one of the most technical, lyrical rappers in the game. “Another One Down” has a bumpin beat and Asher absolutely kills it. D.A Wallach also jumps on for a real sexy hook. Enjoy. also just shed some light on Asher’s situation with his latest album and why it hasn’t come out for months

“During a recent interview with Power 102.9, Asher Roth revealed that The Spaghetti Tree was never supposed to be his 2nd album. Due to financial issues, the 12-track project which he recorded with Pharrell Williams has been hold on pause for the . However, his official sophomore project is in the works and is slated for a October 2 release via UMG.”

In my opinion, Asher Roth is on another level from all of the other white rappers flooding the market. I just hope his album sees the light of day, hopefully on October 2nd.

Official Music Video: Asher Roth – “Summertime” (featuring Quan)

July 13th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Asher Roth comes out with yet another awesome music video to his track “Summertime” (featuring Quan). This video portrays the good life of just chilling on the beach, with women, drinks, and smoke in the air. It is also a pretty laid-back and awesome track to listen to as Asher kills it as usual and Quan delivers some legit versus. Enjoy!

Dom Kennedy – New Jeeps (Ft. Asher Roth and Mikey Rocks)

June 28th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Dom Kennedy is seriously one of the most underrated, under-appreciated rappers in the game. He just dropped his album, II: From the Westside with Love, under the shadows of Big Sean and Curren$y, and it’s seriously a nugget that not enough people know about. Dom Kennedy may be the next big thing out of the west coast. Check out “New Jeeps” featuring Asher Roth and Mikey Rocks of the Cool Kids. It’s a must listen and has the perfect summertime vibe.

Follow Mr. Kennedy on Twitter, and if you’re really feeling it, buy the album of itunes.

Luke Christopher – Rooftops ft. Asher Roth (Video)

June 2nd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

A couple weeks ago, Luke Christopher made a serious move by dropping the single “Rooftops” with Asher Roth. The track is chill and both dudes spit really hot verses. I’d seriously watch out for Luke Christopher. He’s only 18 and doesn’t even have a mixtape, yet he’s already spitting with some serious dudes. Check out the video after the jump:

Asher Roth – Last Man Standing ft. Akon

May 28th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Radio hit! I never believed “I Love College” was going to be Asher Roth‘s last mainstream hit; never thought he was a one-hit wonder. “Last Man Standing” featuring Akon is Roth’s next single that should put him back on the map and show people that he’s not just another white rapper with a 1-hit wonder.

I heard rumors that Asher Roth was working with Pharrell Williams, not sure what happened with that but I’m glad Akon agreed to jump on this track, it’s like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae.

Loving the beat, rapping is superb, Akon brings the catchy hooks and the mainstream appeal, overall a well-made track. Listen and download “Last Man Standing” below.

Bonus: Speaking of Pharell, here’s a rap he did over a song in one of my favorite film soundtracks, Tron Legacy. I loved the film’s sound because Daft Punk‘s sound actually made everything in the movie better! Does Pharell’s rap make the track better?
