Download: Wunder Wunder – Sure Stuck *must-listen lo-fi chill rock

March 5th, 2014 by | Rock |

With an amalgamation of lo-fi squelch, dreamy guitars and warping synths, Wunder Wunder is a true aural trip into the west coast sun. “Sure Stuck” provides a kaleidoscope of melodies, they provide the sonic colour and boldness that most music seems to forget.

Wunder Wunder is the creative conception of Australian music producers, Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant. After many years of producing and writing electronic music, the duo have given birth to a new project that adventures into their love of colourful psychedelic ’60s and ’70s pop.

Stream and download “Sure Stuck” below and make sure to keep an eye out on their upcoming releases.

“Sure Stack” reminds me of Arcade Fire (Reflektor edition), LCD Soundsystem and !!! (Chk chk chk) in how the song finishes.

Listen: Strange Talk – Young Hearts *must listen electro pop

February 7th, 2014 by | Alternative/Indie, Electropop, Music Video, synthpop |

Australia indie electro pop band Strange Talk is back with a new song, titled “Young Hearts”, off their upcoming debut album, Cast Away (Pre Order), which I can’t wait to come out on April 29th. “Young Hearts” has their signature indie electro pop vibes that remind me of Cut Copy, Empire Of The Sun and Passion Pit, acts that Strange Talk will reach in popularity once their debut drops and their worldwide touring begins. This band is built for stardom and ever since I saw them at The Satellite back in November, I’ve been dying to hear more new releases from them.

Stream “Young Hearts” below and you will understand why I dig these Aussie rockers so much.

By the way, if you haven’t seen their latest music video for “Eskimo Boy”, you MUST WATCH IT! This is one of their best songs and the reason I fell in love with their music back in 2011!

Hidden Gem: Lancelot *Australian Nu-Disco/Dance

October 17th, 2013 by | Dance, Disco, House |

About a month ago on my way home from work, I put on Songza’s Indie Dance & Nu Disco playlist and about 3-5 songs in I hear Australian musician Lancelot‘s “Spoken Word” and immediately fall in love with his tunes. Within that same week I believe I heard another track, maybe “Higher Ground”, which I also dug a lot.

The dude has less than 5,000 Facebook fans, which will change when DJs more well-known than Goldroom and Le Crayon start remixing his tunes or when he starts remixing some mainstream music in Australia and worldwide. Either way, I hope he comes to LA soon, so I can impress my Nu-Disco music friends when I invite them to see Lancelot.

Below is my favorite, “Spoken Word”, his latest project, “Thinking Of You” EP and a 2-track Free EP as well.. I really love the handclaps or finger snaps with the piano to open the song plus I believe I hear children cheering in the background of the song, just lovely dance vibes especially when the guitar riff jumps in, so smooth!

Video: The Trouble With Templeton – Bleeders *Folk Indie

October 16th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Hidden Gem, Music Video |

Thomas Calder aka The Trouble With Templeton swept Filter Magazine’s Culture Collide away last weekend. Hailing from Australia, Thomas captivated the assorted onlookers, leaving a long-lasting impression in Los Angeles. This week, The Trouble With Templeton is traveling to New York for the esteemed CMJ Music Marathon. Before you race there to catch a glimpse of his fervent performance, watch the haunting video for “Bleeders,” off the band’s debut album Bleeders [I Wrote A Novel EP].

Foggy silhouettes of Thomas as he walks through a cemetery amongst elegant zombie ballet capture the essence of this strolling ballad as he sings, “I don’t feel your heart anymore / ‘Cause you are so far gone.”

Video: Strange Talk – Cast Away *must-listen electro-synth-pop

September 20th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Dance, Electropop, Music Video, synthpop |

The new song from Strange Talk, “Cast Away” has amazing synths, excellent beats and if it doesn’t get your head bobbing, then something is wrong with you. I’ve been in love with Strange Talk‘s music for over 2 years and their music continually seems to get better and better!

With “Cast Away”, they’ve made their next catchy fun dancing electro-synth-pop hit, if only American radio respected their music enough to play it like Australia does

This is the first single from Strange Talk’s debut album which will be released in early 2013.Watch the video to “Cast Away” below. (more…)

Buy: Antonio Paul – End of the World EP *road-trip fun indie rock

April 29th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Music Video, Pop, Rock |

Road-trips are pretty boring, unless you have a killer soundtrack to invoke sing alongs, dancing and a whole bunch of fun. Antonio Paul‘s latest single ‘Into the Night’ offers just that. The mystical pop number takes you on a magical road-trip that keeps you moving until the very end. The fast paced and drum heavy track is reminiscent of an Australian Two Door Cinema Club.

Before you watch the video to that, stream the song and “Made In China” another favorite of mine. Both tracks are on Antonio Paul‘s latest studio release, End Of The World EP (iTunes).

Watch the music video for ‘Into The Night’ below. (more…)
