Exclusive premier: Electric Drip – “Encounter” (Video)

May 22nd, 2012 by | Before Bigs Exclusive, Dubstep, Music Video |

We’ve been covering Los Angeles based dubstep duo Electric Drip for quite sometime now. They have been rather busy in the studio as of late and working on some awesome new projects. Today I present you all with the exclusive release of the official music video to their newest track “Encounter”. It is an extremely hilarious and very entertaining video to watch. Not to mention the production value is top notch.

I especially love how Kody of the duo is dressed as a cop chasing Justin who is a masked robber with an alien invasion occurring at the same time. I also notice that the chase goes right past Rob Dyrdek’s infamous Fantasy Factory.

As a whole, it was a great video that gave me a nice little laugh and much needed break from work. Look for the exclusive stream of “Encounter” by us in the coming weeks. In the meantime enjoy this awesome and funny video!

Best You’ve Never Heard 5 *exclusive seasonal playlist!

December 28th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Before Bigs Exclusive, Daily Mix, Dance, Dubstep, Electro, Electronic Dance Music, Electronic Rock, Electropop, Hip-Hop/Rap, House, Pop, R&B, Remix, Rock, synthpop |

We are proud to present our 5th edition of Best You’ve Never Heard, which features 18 songs from up-and-coming artists in a variety of genres that we love. We set stricter guidelines this time in choosing emerging musical talents, only selecting artists who, as of December 28 2011, have less than 5,000 facebook fans. We also made sure to select artists that very little to none of our friends liked and knew about, to further strengthen the idea that these 18 tracks are the Best You’ve Never Heard.

Without further ado, DOWNLOAD Best You’ve Never Heard 5 (Alternate DOWNLOAD). Stream the 18 track playlist/mix below.

Exclusive: Video Interview with Shwayze & Cisco

November 26th, 2011 by | Before Bigs Exclusive, Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Reviews |

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while but I have a treat for you here. 10 days ago, Shwayze & Cisco rolled through my hometown of Fort Collins, CO. The whole family over at BananaBeat Records was super chill, and gave me an hour or so to come kick it and ask them a few questions. We even test drove a new game they showed me, ‘Bust-a-Rhyme’ (shown in video).

Shwayze & Cisco Interview with TheMisterMistress

The show was incredible. With support from G-Eazy, ModSun, & Cobraconda it would have been tough not to enjoy this show. Whether you’ve been sipping a corona & lime to Buzzin’ for years or Island in the Sun is your first tango, this show was for you. Shwayze & Cisco played a perfect blend of old and new material. Some songs with the both of them on the mic, some with Cisco on guitar, and some even with the treat of Goodfeather blowing horns in the back.

There was no better way to spend a Wednesday night. Much love to the family over at BananaBeat Records.

Til our next affair,
TheMisterMistress

BeforeBigs.com presents: Young Prince (interview, freestyle & new songs!)

June 18th, 2011 by | Before Bigs Exclusive, Hip-Hop/Rap |

In May, I had the opportunity to sit down with DMV-area rapper Young Prince while he was in Los Angeles promoting his music.

Young Prince talked about his upcoming mixtape, The Reverse Effect, his upcoming album that he’s currently working on, D.A.D., and gave me a little better idea of who Young Prince is and what he’s all about. When asked how best to describe his music, Beau Young said, “Like the first time Marvin Gaye hit a jay”.

Young Prince was nice enough to do a 1-minute acapella freestyle. If you are interested in just watching that, skip to 3:40 in the video.

Here’s a couple songs off The Reverse Effect, dropping tomorrow. After speaking to Beau about this project and hearing the songs he has released off it, I truly believe this to be his real breakout project.

Drawing influence from bands such as The Arctic Monkeys, Green Day, and The Bravery amongst others, the band’s sound is constantly progressing and the best way to experience the band in its true form is in a live setting. Introducing Hi-Rez

November 5th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Hi-Rez has some really good beats with chill lyricism. Here’s what his manager sent us:

Hi-Rez hails from Florida, but holds a true sound of smooth hip-hop in his rhymes, differentiating him from the mass population of Southern Swag rappers.

He is mostly an internet rapper (youtube) as well as local performances.

Here’s two songs I think you will enjoy.
