Hidden Gem: Nicky Blitz *alternative fun

July 27th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Hidden Gem, Pop, Remix |

To the Nicky Blitz fans and bloggers who know about him, I’m sorry for posting his music around a year late. I’ve had 3 of his songs in my iTunes since December ’11 but had forgotten to post it.

For an artist who had a song featured in a Honda 2012 commercial yet has a little over 200 fans on facebook, he deserves “Hidden Gem” status for having released two highly infectious songs that are just fun.

“Summer Sinner” reminds is like the “Ballroom Blitz” of our generation and “Alive” is a chilled-out pop songs which has this fun piano beat with a few drum kicks. Not only these two songs, but Brenton Duvall remixed “Summer Sinner”, slowing it down with more of a focus on the lyrics and a real simple piano beat. However, I think the remix makes the original sound like a radio hit.

Stream my 3 favorites below and DOWNLOAD “Summer Sinner” & DOWNLOAD “Alive”.

May 8th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Here’s the video for, “Rich Kid”.  OnCue be releasing, “New Religion” within the month which has a cameo from Just Blaze and Party Supplies.

Here’s the video for “Rich Kid” which displays some quality but I expect bigger things with the video for “New Religion”. (more…)

OnCue – Rich Kid (prod. by Brenton Duvall & CJ Luzi)

February 16th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

So Brenton Duvall and OnCue‘s usual producer, CJ Luzi, have collaborated to produce an excellent track for the up-and-coming Northeastern rapper. This is already one of my favorite original OnCue tracks and shows his progress as an artist. Previous: OnCue – Can’t Wait (mixtape) + “Headlights” (video)

Sonny Shotz – “I’m Only 20” (prod. Brenton Duvall)

June 5th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

Sonny Shotz of The Dean’s List hooks up with super producer Brenton Duvall to create an awesome new track called “I’m Only 20”. Sonny is quite possibly my favorite up and coming rapper in the game today and the same goes with Brenton on the producing side. This track is amazing and I hope to hear more collaborations by the two talents in the very near future. Enjoy!

Huey Mack – Freshman 15 (Mixtape)

May 30th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

The other day, Huey Mack released his latest mixtape, Freshman 15. This is my first real listen to Huey, and I have to say, I was really impressed. His sound is real polished, his flows are tight, and the beats are awesome. Producers for the tape include Big Jerm, Brenton Duvall, and the Xtraordinary Gentleman, meaning that there is top notch production throughout the tape.

I’m not going to say Huey isn’t cliche “frat rap” or whatever you want to call it, but Freshman 15 is super chill for the most part, but also includes some more upbeat party jams. My favorites from the tape are:

Huey Mack – “Syllabus Week”

Huey Mack – “Looking at the Sky”

Download Freshman 15 here and follow Huey on Twitter and Facebook.

White Rhino – White Lights

May 20th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

I’m late on the newest White Rhino Wednesday, but it’s definitely worth a spot in your weekend plans. The White Rhino’s newest track has him spitting over Brenton Duvall’s epic remix of “Lights” by Ellie Goulding. I know a lot of you have heard the mash-up version of the track, but Rhino definitely does it justice. Dude goes hard. Listen to this and go rage.

When you’re done, follow White Rhino on Twitter and Facebook. Also check out the original track below:

Neon Hitch – Silly Girl (Brenton Duvall Remix ft. Wiz Khalifa)

May 4th, 2011 by | Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap, Mashup, Pop, Remix |

Brenton Duvall is back with another dope mashup mixing together a Wiz Khalifa and Neon Hitch for a banging electronic pop hop. Thing I love about Brenton Duvall besides his progression as a musician from doing mashups to now producing for artists like Young Prince and Tayyib Ali, is that almost all of his songs have big differences in terms of the sound.

First time I heard Brenton Duvall was in a mashup between Lil Wayne and Passion Pit which is still one of my favorite mashups today. However his progression from a simple yet catchy mashup like that to the complexity in his latest productions just shows how talented this kid is.

Below listen and download “Silly Girl”.

The Best of Brenton Duvall

April 6th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Mashup, Remix |

Brenton Duvall has been lighting up the internet quite often in the last year now. He has really made a name for himself and has paved the way to become an extremely successful producer/mashup artist. This kid has a great ear for music putting together bits and pieces of popular tracks with quite different sounds from one another, making it mesh together nicely. Below are some of my favorite mashups by him:

“Mean Planes and Taylor Gangs”

“Blow the Skrilla”

“Time For What You Want”

“Tryouts”

You all know and love this kid and his music. Expect to hear many more mashups and remixes by him in the very near future. Brenton Duvall is taking over as a producer and he is only getting better with each new track that he comes out with. Look for him on the Animal House Tour with XV, Machine Gun Kelly, The Dean’s List and others going on now. Enjoy!

Siegz edit: One of the best Brenton Duvall produced hip-hop songs, “Strange Times”, put out an unofficial video featuring Brenton Duvall and the rapper Young Prince. See it below including download link. (more…)

February 22nd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

Big ups to sunsetintherearview.com for me discovering Brenton Duvall‘s next big hit. This time Brenton remixes Javelin’s “Tryouts” and adds some awesome verses from one of my new favorite rappers Childish Gambino. Brenton can produce fire out of anything and I see a bright future for both him and Childish Gambino in the near future. I really enjoy this track and I know you all will too!
