Kid Cudi – Just What I Am feat. King Chip (aka Chip Tha Ripper)

Kid Cudi Just What I Am feat. King Chip (aka Chip Tha Ripper)

The man who helped bring in a new wave of hip-hop with Man On The Moon back in 2009 has returned to his hip-hop roots after a LONG hiatus with trying to make rock music and act. Kid Cudi teams up with close friend King Chip (aka Chip Tha Ripper) to create “Just What I Am”. This is classic Cudder at his best and hopefully is a sign of what is to come on his next album, Indicud.

In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy!

Asher Roth – Gotta Get Up (video) + More Cowbell + Back Home

April 5th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

asher Asher Roth Gotta Get Up (video) + More Cowbell + Back HomeAsher Roth is one of the few white rappers I have respect for. My cousin Kev turned me on to him in Spring 2009 when “I Love College” and I immediately became a fan. Rather than continue to put out catchy hip-hop songs since his release of his debut album (which is pretty good), he has taken a more alternative/indie direction with the hip-hop he’s making, not trying to force hits on us like Sam Adams or Chris Webby.

As the first true white college rapper, Asher Roth has graduated to another level and I look forward to the music he puts out because I know he won’t sell out to pop beats and getting pop artists featured in his music just to make a quick buck. Asher Roth is an artist that will be in the industry for a while and even if he doesn’t put out another over-played single like “I Love College” he’s still one of my favorites for staying true to his craft and not being a so-called “sell out” in my eyes.

Here’s “More Cowbell” and “Back Home”. “More Cowbell” actually samples a cowbell with a hilarious SNL soundbite opening the song; love the instrumentals, flow is fire. Then another chill hip-hop song with interesting instrumentals plus Roth & Chip Tha Ripper killing it on the drum beat and old school sample.

Chip Tha Ripper has been working on this for months and began promoting it a few months back when he dropped The Prelude to Gift Raps which is a preview of what is now available. I really enjoy this mixtape and feel that Chip Tha Ripper is under appreciated in the hip-hop world. Hopefully this mixtape will help better show his true talent. My two favorite tracks off this mixtape are “Hang Out” and “UnderDogs”

Chip tha Ripper Chip Tha Ripper Roll That Weed BitchClevelands newest hip-hop up-and-comer Chip Tha Ripper recently dropped a new stoner track “Roll That Weed Bitch” which is sure to make you feel higher than you may already be. All this song is about is bitches and weed, which makes a great combination but is a little bit silly of a track. I think it’s funny and I am sure you will find it hilarious as well.

Chip Tha Ripper Freestyle Drum Remix

September 17th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

An interesting video that Chip Tha Ripper posted on his facebook. The drummer in the video is very talented and you should all check out his other drum freestlyes. I love hearing hip-hop with live drums involved, adds more of a band experience and overall another listening experience to the song.
Download “Interior Crocodile Alligator (Freestyle Drum Remix by Jonathan Gilad)”
*I took out some of parts of the video’s audio, so it’s just the song with the drum remix by Jonathan Gilad.*

“Oil Money” is from Freddie Gibbs’ Str8 Killa EP which is on iTunes. Oil Money features Chuck Inglish (The Cool Kids), Chip Tha Ripper, Bun B & Dan Auerbach (Black Keys). The video is fairly laid-back, don’t see a lot of bling on the rappers who are all just hanging by a storefront in a SUV.
Below download “Oil Money” and listen and download “Something New” feat. YP.

Chip Tha Ripper: From Me, To You – The Prelude to Gift Raps

chiptha Chip Tha Ripper: From Me, To You – The Prelude to Gift Raps

Chip Tha Ripper dropped a six-track original song bundle to download as a preview to hold off fans until Gift Raps. These are all new songs and after listening to it, I think it’s real laid back and has some good beats to it.

Cleveland rappers, Chip Tha Ripper and Kid Cudi, have plans to form a group, “The Almighty Glory Us” as they have a mutual appreciation for each other’s work and want to collaborate more together. Here’s more on that and what to expect from Chip Tha Ripper’s Gift Raps album, via HipHopDX.

Check out our End of Summer ’10 mix which features Chip Tha Ripper’s “Feel Good”, my favorite song by him.

Below is the download link to Chip’s 6-track EP/mixtape. My favorite song on it is “No Worries” because the of the interesting beat and relax flow by Chip.

The mix is 25 songs released this summer (May-August), by artists who haven’t released a debut album yet. The only exception is “All Summer” by Kid Cudi, Best Coast and Vampire Weekend because that’s one of the best songs released this summer.
