Chris Webby – CT 2 Shaolin ft. Method Man + Bars On Me

September 28th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Got two new Chris Webby songs off his upcoming mixtape, Bars On Me. The first track on the mixtape is “Bars On Me” and the fifth track on the tape is “CT 2 Shaolin” featuring Method Man. “Bars On Me” is just Webby going off over a sick beat from Cardo, whose produced many Wiz Khalifa tracks while “CT 2 Shaolin” has such a vintage Wu-Tang Clan sound except with a white rapper on the beat with Method Man. Chris Webby’s upcoming mixtape comes out Sunday, September 30.

Stream “CT 2 Shaolin” and “Bars On Me” below.

Shout out to @NMcCay for sharing the “Bars On Me” song.

Chris Webby – Bounce [Funk Remix] (Ft. Dizzy Wright & SwizZz)

May 22nd, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

What do you get when you mix a white boy from the burbs, the Las Vegas warrior and an animal straight out of the OC? You get “Bounce” by Chris Webby featuring Funk Volume artists Dizzy Wright and SwizZz . The official Funk Volume Facebook page released the idea of a track with Dizzy, Webby and possibly SwizZz just a few weeks ago.  “Bounce” was originally on Webby’s album “There Goes The Neighborhood”, then the Funk Volume team came through and made one hell of a remix. These three artists are a clear reminder that Hip-hop is far from dead.

Check out the track below. (more…)

Review: Chris Webby at Key Club

July 21st, 2011 by | Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Reviews |

Shortly after seeing Theophilus London at Amoeba, Zach and I went down the street to see Chris Webby perform at the Key Club in Hollywood last night. I am not the biggest fan of this kid from the burbs’ however he did get the crowd (majority of them in high school) pumped up. He kept on ripping on Sam Adams which was really funny. I guess they still have beef with each other.

His opening acts who I don’t even know the names of and neither did any one else in the crowd. Either way it doesn’t matter because they were not good at all. This was Webster’s first time performing in LA and I doubt it will be his last. He performed many of his old and new songs, providing lots of variety which was nice. He also brought out Miss Daja to add some flavor to the chorus. All in all not a bad time. Below are a some of his best tracks he performed last night. Enjoy!

“OMG” (On My Grind) (Featuring. Miss Daja)

“Killin’ Em”

“I Got Em” (featuring Rotimi)

“Contradictory to Grownups”

Chris Webby – Webster’s Laboratory (Mixtape)

June 1st, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

After much anticipation Webster’s Laboratory is finally here. Chris Webby‘s newest project is not my favorite of his. His lyricism is solid in some of the tracks. However, it seems to me that he may be trying too hard on some of the tracks. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being terrible and 10 being the best ever; I would give this mixtape a 6.8/10, because though a couple of the songs were decent, overall I was not too impressed.

I have been following him for a very longtime but I was just not feeling this one. His old mixtapes were better, even before Best in the Burbs, in my opinion.  Regardless, I will provide a couple of the tracks I thought were pretty good below. Enjoy!

Chris Webby – WDGAF (Ft. Gorilla Zoe)

May 23rd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

So many people are quick to call any white rapper, “frat rap,” but Chris Webby is doing everything he can do distance himself from that term. His latest track, “WDGAF (We Don’t Give a Fuck)” with Gorilla Zoe has both rappers going super hard over a heavy club beat. “WDGAF” is the latest leak of Webster’s Laboratory due out June 1st. Get it. It’s going to be nice…and don’t call Webby “frat rap.”

Chris Webby – Can’t Deny Me (Video)

April 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

It seems like this video passed by without much attention, but a few weeks ago, Chris Webby released an official video for his song “Can’t Deny Me” off the Best in the Burbs mixtape. I guess marketing is one of the things you give up being an independent rapper. Anyway, the video is tight, the song is tight, and if you don’t have the Best in the Burbs mixtape, you’re not tight. Luckily, you can download the mixtape here (shouts to Good Music All Day).
