An Incredible Weekend at Coachella (Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Performance)

April 19th, 2012 by | Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

We’ve saved the best for last! As many of you already know, Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre closed off an incredible weekend at Coachella. It was such a big deal that I had to make a separate post for just this set. So many great rappers made guest appearances with the hip-hop legends. The names include, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Warren G and most notably the famous Tupac hologram.

This was by far the best live performance I have ever seen. Not only am I a huge fan of hip-hop and grew up listening to many of these great artists, but seeing them all live on stage was something I will never forget.

The Tupac hologram which the whole world knows about by now looked so realistic live. It appeared that he was actually there performing “America’s Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg. Apparently, the movements, look, and overall Tupac hologram performance was copied from a show he did at the House of Blues in Hollywood back in 1995. The only thing different was that instead of saying “What’s Up LA?!”, the people behind the creation of the hologram changed it to “What’s Up Coachella?!” with his voice sounding exactly the same. It was truly and incredible process and something I feel is going to catch on at other festivals and shows with other dead artists very soon.

Below are my favorite tracks from the entire performance. For those of you going for Weekend 2, you are in for quite a treat. Please go to this performance on Sunday night instead of Avicii. Nothing against Avicii, he is great; however, he is always traveling the United States and it is extremely rare to see all these great rappers on one stage at the same time, especially with that Tupac hologram. I am sure that the people who went to the Avicii performance regret it. Don’t be one of those people. Enjoy!

An Incredible Weekend at Coachella (Day 1: Friday)

April 16th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Chill/Jam/Reggae, Concert/Festival Review, Electronic Dance Music |

Having witnessed all the craziness of Coachella this past weekend, I figured I’d share it all with everyone (especially the people who are going next week, you are in for quite a treat). It was impossible to see everyone I wanted to live and the weather was not as good the whole weekend as I would have liked it to be. However, that did not stop me from seeing some great live performances. Starting today and up until Wednesday, I will share with you the performances I saw each day and let you all know what to expect if you are going this coming weekend.

Childish Gambino – “Eat Your Vegetables” *Samples Donkey Kong Country Song

April 5th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Earlier this week, Childish Gambino dropped another fire track. This time it’s “East Your Vegetables” and he once again kills it! This guy knows hows to spit rhymes like nobodies business. Plus I love the sample from a song on the classic Super Nintendo game Donkey Kong Country. I cannot wait to see him live for the first time ever at Coachella next weekend. What could be better?

Lil B – “Justin Bieber” (Official Music Video) *Worst Rapper Alive

May 2nd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

So Lil B released the visuals for his track “Justin Bieber” last friday and honestly, I cannot see why anyone enjoys this guys music at all. He clearly can’t rap worth shit and he’s got no talent whatsoever. I’ve never rapped in my life and I could probably do a better job then Lil B. Honestly, I don’t know why the people who organize Coachella would even let him go near the stages there but thats just my opinion. People obviously like this joke of a rapper so I figured I’d put his newest music video out for the world to view. Hope people finally start to realize as I did long ago that this guy should not be making music at all.

Tyler The Creator – Yonkers *NSFW music video

February 14th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Have you heard of Tyler The Creator and OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) aka Odd Future? If you haven’t heard of them, you will hear a ton about them after their performance at Coachella in April, where they are one of several hip-hop artists performing.

Odd Future is becoming the West Coast Wu-Tang Clan as these 16-23 year olds are going to change up the game. They are going to change the hip-hop game with how different and mature/disturbing/obscene their content is, which is why you will either hate them, love them, or wonder why you are always paying attention to them.

Above is Tyler The Creator’s most recent single, “Yonkers” (download). It’s a NSFW video, as he eats an insect and raps about the craziest stuff. Tyler The Creator is one of the more well-known MC’s of Odd Future along with Earl Sweatshirt (link is to another very NSFW video).

So happy Valentines Day, download Odd Future’s last mixtape, Radical and if you like it, then jump on the “breakout hip-hop group of 2011” hype train because the popularity of Odd Future is only going to grow.
