Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y and Big Sean – “Flowers”

July 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, and Big Sean get together to create “Flowers” an awesome new chill-relaxed hip-hop track. This song has a simple, old school beat to it with fantastic rapping by all three artists who have been quite busy lately releasing all sorts of new tracks which gets their fans very excited. I expect to see more out of this collaboration in the near future. in the meantime, enjoy this laid-back song.

Dom Kennedy – Hennessy Beach (Ft. Curren$y)

July 18th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Dom Kennedy dropped “Hennessy Beach” featuring Curren$y on his Twitter and I just want to say that Dom is seriously on the come up. The beat is seriously laid back and both dudes get blunted on the track. Download the track and put it on for that late night smoke sesh. Don’t thank me, thank Dom and Spitta.

If you haven’t yet, go get From the Westside With Love II. West Coast is seriously representing in the rap game. Boom.

Dom Kennedy – New Jeeps (Ft. Asher Roth and Mikey Rocks)

June 28th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Dom Kennedy is seriously one of the most underrated, under-appreciated rappers in the game. He just dropped his album, II: From the Westside with Love, under the shadows of Big Sean and Curren$y, and it’s seriously a nugget that not enough people know about. Dom Kennedy may be the next big thing out of the west coast. Check out “New Jeeps” featuring Asher Roth and Mikey Rocks of the Cool Kids. It’s a must listen and has the perfect summertime vibe.

Follow Mr. Kennedy on Twitter, and if you’re really feeling it, buy the album of itunes.

Curren$y – She Don’t Want a Man (Video)

June 23rd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Curren$y just dropped the video for “She Don’t Want a Man” off his upcoming album Weekend at Burnie’s. I think the lesson to be gained from the video is that the way to understand women is to get super high, keep it chill, and they’ll leave their significant others to have sex with you. It’s kind of like a beer commercial but with weed. Enjoy, and roll one up for the album drop next Tuesday.

Curren$y – 3 Wishes

June 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Shout-out to Hypetrak for dropping “3 Wishes,” a previously unreleased record from Curren$y da hot spitta. This track is not going to be Spitta’s upcoming album Weekend at Burnie’s, but it’s straight fire nonetheless.

French Montana – Shot Caller

June 17th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

If you don’t know about French Montana, now is the time to educate yourself. Mr. Montana has been flying under the radar for a long time, and he was actually signed by Akon’s Konvict Music Group, but he left due to album delays. He’s actually reportedly close to a deal with Maybach Music Group, which would be huge for the dude.

“Shot Caller” has a jazzy beat produced by Harry Fraud, but it has a real Ski Beatz feel to it. The flow is nice, and the song serves as a smoked out street anthem, a lot like Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa.

Follow French Montana on Facebook and Twitter and go on datpiff and get his mixtapes. Get in the know.

Curren$y – You See It

June 13th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Check out Curren$y‘s latest drop off his upcoming album Weekend at Burnie’s called “You See It.” The track is less mega-blunted than his Covert Coup mixtape, as it has a more up-tempo beat, but it’s still super jazzy, just the way Spitta likes it. Remember to get Weekend at Burnie’s when it comes out on June 28th.

Also cop “She Don’t Wanna Man” off the album

Jet life to the next life…always.

Kidz in the Hall – Semester Abroad (Mixtape)

June 5th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

I know I’m a little late to the party on this one, but the newest Kidz in the Hall mixtape is too good not to post. I had written off Kidz in the Hall a while ago, but since they started a song a week thing a few months ago, they’ve been making some seriously sick music. Their mixtape Semester Abroad is super chill from top to bottom, featuring some really nice features from Curren$y, Smoke DZA, and more of your favorite stoner rappers. This is a must download. Get it.

Rap/Rock *Lupe Fiasco, Curren$y, Murs, The ILLZ, MTHDS

April 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Rock |

I love songs that have sounds that can’t be put into one category. Some of you readers notice I love music that can’t be defined by one genre. It just seems to sound real fresh to me when I hear music that mixes genres.

First let’s start off with a song from Travis Barker‘s latest album, Let The Drummer Get Wicked. It features Lupe Fiasco and the rapping is dope over the rock instrumentals. Lupe’s flow just comes off the instrumentals so smooth for over a guitar and drum beat.
Lupe Fiasco – Joaquin Phoenix ft. Travis Barker
Curren$y be”Soundbombin'” on this track, basically just killing it with his flow on the live drum set with the rocking instrumentals.

Next we got LA rapper Murs and Jacksonville punk band Whole Wheat Bread joining forces for a song called “I-10”, named after a freeway I cruise along in LA a lot. I love the punk rock instrumental and chorus with Murs killing it as usual with his unique flow. Murs = best LA underground hip-hop artist.

Next we got The ILLZ with a song that put out in February called “Learn To Fly (The Rocket)”. I haven’t loved every song from them, but they sound real close to a local act I love, SomeWhere Else. If I were flying now, this would be one of the dopest songs from lift-off.

Lastly I wanted to give you a fun-loving song from MTHDS. I featured them a few weeks back with “Positive Movement”. Here’s another hit from their last release, Ship Of Fools (download), called “A Song About Life”.
