Treasure Fingers at Club Avalon Hollywood

September 6th, 2011 by | Before Bigs Exclusive, Concert/Festival Review, Disco, Electronic Tuesday, House, Reviews |

Last Friday we got media passes for Club Avalon Hollywood to review Disco House DJ, Treasure Fingers. Upon arriving at the infamous dance club in Hollywood, CA, I immediately fell in love with how spacious the venue is. With at least 3 different rooms where DJ’s are performing including the main stage area with hundreds of people on the dance floor, this venue is in a class of it’s own compared to other electronic/dance venues in Southern California.

Interviewing Treasure Fingers, we learned how he was a drummer before becoming a DJ and how he got noticed by and is releasing records with Fools Gold and Defected. Understanding that his variety of influences has helped craft his musical styles helped give me a greater appreciation for the Atlanta DJ.

After we finished interviewing Treasure Fingers, we headed to the main dance floor to enjoy his set which started close to 2am and lasted until close to 4am. The crowd was feeling it, with a fairly full dance-floor and enthusiastic dancing throng of people through most of his 2-hour set.

Overall Treasure Fingers was very enjoyable with some of the best disco-house tunes I have ever heard live! While it’s tough to single out certain songs during his continuously awesome set, my favorite was his remix to “Feelings For You” by Avicii and Sebastien Drums. When that came on around 3:30, I immediately moved closer to the stage and knew Treasure Fingers is the real deal and why Fool’s Gold took the Atlanta DJ into their family.

Below is Treasure Fingers “Feelings For You” remix and his 30-minute “Avalon Mix” which was made exlucisvely for Club Avalon to give their fans before his show last Friday.

Introducing Madeon *Upbeat Dance Jams

August 9th, 2011 by | Dance, House |

I don’t know much about 17 year old French Producer Madeon, except that he’s absolutely killing it. I found him through our friends over at Vacay Vitamins and his music is unreal. Madeon plays upbeat dance party jams unlike anything you’ve heard before. He’s kind of like The Knocks on steroids.

The kid caught serious attention with his hundreds of thousands of soundcloud plays and is now signed with William Morris, but don’t expect him to come to stateside soon, because I’m pretty sure he has school. Check out some of my favorite tracks from Madeon below:

Madeon – Shuriken

Alphabeat – DJ (Madeon Remix)

Madeon – For You

Check out more tunes on his Soundcloud page, follow him on Twitter, and stay tuned for big things from this kid.

Dance *Foster the People, Treasure Fingers, Icona Pop, Alex Metric, VHS or Beta

July 28th, 2011 by | Dance, Remix |

Dance music post! I suggest you press play on these songs, then get up off your ass and start dancing. It’s almost Friday, dance and cheer for that! Anyways, not sure where I was going with that, but here’s five dance songs. Some are originals, while others are remixes all with the same theme, get up and dance or at least try to sing along.

Alex Metric – End Of The World (ft. Charli XCX)

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (Polaris At Noon Remix)

Trash Yourself– Down to the Disco ft. Treasure Fingers

VHS or Beta – I Found A Reason

Icona Pop – Manners (Captain Cuts Remix)

Play-N-Skillz – Fireworks (mixtape) + music video

July 28th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video, Pop |

For up-and-coming party hip-hop, look no further than Play-N-Skillz. The Texas group creates catchy fun music that I could easily see on the radio. They recently released Fireworks, which could easily be an album for, especially if LMFAO and 3OH!3 have people paying for their music.

Here’s my three favorites from Play-N-Skillz latest mixtape, Fireworks (DOWNLOAD).

Play-N-Skillz – She Goes On (Journey sample!)

Play-N-Skillz – Besos ft. Pitbull (radio banger)

Play-N-Skillz – I Just Wanna Fuck ft. Nelly and Three 6 Mafia (radio banger)

After the jump watch a music video for “Survivor”, a fairly catchy song off Fireworks. The video features cameo’s from some of the top musicians in the hip-hop/rap industry.

Jeremy Glenn – New Life (Amtrac Remix)

July 16th, 2011 by | Dance, Remix |

I’ll admit, I’m not familiar with the original track, but every time I see something new from Amtrac, I know it’s going to be sick. “New Life” has a more chilled out vibe, and I imagine the song being played at some swanky cocktail party somewhere. Order your bottle service, sit around a table at a club, and bump this track.

Follow Amtrac on Twitter and if you get a chance to see him live, do it. He can bring it. Amtrac just signed with an international booking agent, so expect big things in the near future.

James Egbert – Isle of Capri

July 14th, 2011 by | Dance, House, Techno |

Shouts to ThisSongIsSick for promoting James Egbert, a sick producer out of Denver. He deserves all the accolades he’s been getting throughout the blogosphere. His latest single “Isle of Capri” is a full-on electronic dance party and this dude has serious skills. He drops eargasmic sounds as he builds the track up to a huge crescendo…and BOOM. The drop is massive. ThisSongIsSick compares Mr. Egbert to Porter Robinson, which I think is a great comparison. There’s some house, whomps, and funky synth beats. He combines all of the subgenres of techno into a great, original style, and absolutely kills the track. There’s also a tropical vibe to the whole song, which is what I imagine I beach party in Ibiza sounds like.

Follow Mr. Egbert on Twitter, and if you’re in Colorado, get to Global Dance Fest this weekend a little early and watch this dude open up the main stage on Friday.

The Knocks – Sunshine

June 30th, 2011 by | Dance |

The Knocks dropped a new summertime dance party jam called “Sunshine” that’s perfect for summer. It’s upbeat, features some hot gospel samples, and builds up to a massive crescendo before a sick drop. I imagine this as a perfect song to spin at a rooftop pool party like in the Corona commercial the Knocks were in.

Amtrac – Venice

June 22nd, 2011 by | Dance, Techno |

Amtrac continues to take up more and more of my party playlist with his latest single “Venice.” The track slowly builds before crescendoing 30 seconds into the song, leading immediately into a 3 minute funky dance party.

If you’re in Florida, make sure to catch Amtrac when he’s throwing down at one of the clubs on South Beach. If you’re somewhere else, follow him on Twitter and Facebook, and be sure this song is a part of your party jams.

B-Roc Does Memorial Day Weekend in Ibiza

May 31st, 2011 by | Daily Mix, Dance, House |

I know I’m a little late, but B-Roc of the Knocks released a sick dance party mix to celebrate the holiday weekend with. I’m not familiar with any of the individual tracks, but just push play on this 40ish minute mix and you have your party right there. The mix contains no heavy whomps or nothing too intense, just 40 minutes of non-stop dancing.

Follow B-Roc on Twitter for updates of the Knocks, who are up to some big things recently, and updates for the Knocks’ label, HeavyRoc Music, of which B-Roc is the CEO.
