An Incredible Weekend at Coachella (Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Performance)

April 19th, 2012 by | Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

We’ve saved the best for last! As many of you already know, Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre closed off an incredible weekend at Coachella. It was such a big deal that I had to make a separate post for just this set. So many great rappers made guest appearances with the hip-hop legends. The names include, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Warren G and most notably the famous Tupac hologram.

This was by far the best live performance I have ever seen. Not only am I a huge fan of hip-hop and grew up listening to many of these great artists, but seeing them all live on stage was something I will never forget.

The Tupac hologram which the whole world knows about by now looked so realistic live. It appeared that he was actually there performing “America’s Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg. Apparently, the movements, look, and overall Tupac hologram performance was copied from a show he did at the House of Blues in Hollywood back in 1995. The only thing different was that instead of saying “What’s Up LA?!”, the people behind the creation of the hologram changed it to “What’s Up Coachella?!” with his voice sounding exactly the same. It was truly and incredible process and something I feel is going to catch on at other festivals and shows with other dead artists very soon.

Below are my favorite tracks from the entire performance. For those of you going for Weekend 2, you are in for quite a treat. Please go to this performance on Sunday night instead of Avicii. Nothing against Avicii, he is great; however, he is always traveling the United States and it is extremely rare to see all these great rappers on one stage at the same time, especially with that Tupac hologram. I am sure that the people who went to the Avicii performance regret it. Don’t be one of those people. Enjoy!

2 Possible Tracks On The Much Anticipated “Detox” Album

March 25th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Two new Dr. Dre tracks have surfaced recently which makes some people think, “is this another sign that Detox is coming?” We certainly hope so and with that we provide ya’ll with these must listen new songs by Dre. They are called “My Prescription” and “Chillin” (featuring Swizz Beatz). These tracks are straight fire and definitely have the sounds of vintage Dr. Dre and we wanna hear more of it. He can certainly bring the hip-hop game to another level as he has done in the past. Until we hear an official release of Detox enjoy these awesome new tracks by him.

The White Panda – Pandamonium (album) *killer mashup mix

March 3rd, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Daily Mix, Mashup |

This week, The White Panda released their latest album, Pandamonium, a 40-track mix featuring some of their past mashups, tons of new mashup’s and overall a MUST DOWNLOAD if you like mashups. Once again, The White Panda show why they are possibly the best 2 song mashup artist, always seeming to find 2-3 songs that fit in so well to mashup.

There’s tons of great mashups on this mix, but here’s my top four favorites.
Bust A Love (Haddaway x Young MC)

Damn I Can’t Stop (Red Hot Chili Peppers x Youngbloodz)

D.R.E Don’t Go (Mike Posner x Dr. Dre)

Walking On Al (Paul Simon x Empire Of The Sun)

Relax under the covers – The Kickdrums, Mike Posner, PJ Simas & Yeasayer

February 27th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Rock |

Above is a mashup/cover by produced by PJ Simas and performed by him on the instrumentals and rapping and Jorden Corey with the vocals. In the song they specifically focus on Skylar Grey’s part from “Coming Home” by Diddy Dirty Money and her feature in “I Need A Doctor” by Dr. Dre and Eminem. Download “Coming Home x I Need A Doctor” (cover).

Below are three other really good songs that are covers.

First is The Kickdrum’s cover of Nirvana’s song “Love Buzz”, big fan of the instrumentals and the vocals go along really well.
The Kickdrums – Love Buzz (Nirvana Cover)
Recently Mike Posner did a cover of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”. Before you dismiss Posner for what turned out to be a flop of a debut album save for a few pop hits, Posner returns to his awesome production roots for a relaxed pop cover.

Lastly Yeasayer covers Seal’s “Crazy”. Seal is a great artist and while I don’t think the Yeasayer cover is better than the original, it provides a alternative/folk perspective of one of the best Seal songs.

Mainstream hip-hop update *Kanye, T.I., Game, Eminem & more

January 26th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, R&B |

Did you watch the above video yet? It’s pretty weird but I guess David Guetta really likes the little weird looking kid to have him lip sync over some mainstream hits David Guetta produced. Do you think it’s weirder than this video with 50 cent?

We almost always post up-and-coming artists but occasionally I like to update you on some of the mainstream acts putting out dope new songs. Here’s 5 songs from some of the best artists in the game.

Eminem – Syllables Ft. Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Stat Quo, 50 Cent & Ca$hi$
Game – Taylor Made (Feat. Wiz Khalifa) [Produced By Che Vicious]
Jay Sean – Hit The Lights ft. Lil Wayne
Kanye West – Eyes Closed
T.I. – Follow Your Dreams Ft. Shun Hendrix

Dr. Dre – “Topless” (featuring Eminem & Nas)

December 28th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Above is “Topless”, by Dr. Dre featuring Eminem and Nas. This is another leaked tracked off the much anticipated, Detox, album which has had its release date continually postponed throughout the last six years. Hopefully this is another sign that the “official” release of Detox is near. Enjoy!

Hip-Hop/R&B Update

December 19th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video, R&B |

Love the beat in the song above; so did the Game and he did his own version of “Kush“. These are hot Hip-Hop and/or R&B songs that dropped within the few weeks that we haven’t posted yet including “Kush”. Enjoy!

Lil Wayne – 6 Foot 7 Foot (feat Cory Gunz) (Harry Belafonte sample)
Keri Hilson – Pretty Girl Rock (Remix) (feat. Kanye West)
Game – Kush (rmx) (Remix of Dr. Dre’s “Kush”)
Maino – We Keep It Rockin Ft. Swizz Beatz, JadaKiss, Jim Jones, Joell Ortiz (samples 2pac’s “California Love”)
Saigon – Get Busy (Super Mario beat)

Dr. Dre ft Eminem – I Need a Doctor

November 17th, 2010 by | Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Crazy beat that sounds like the song has some sound quality issues but that’s kind of what makes it so interesting. Really futuristic hip-pop song.

I Need A Doctor feat. Eminem & Liz Rodrigues (of The New Royales)

Detox is coming out; ETA: 2011.

Dr. Dre ft. Snoop & Akon – Kush

November 17th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Who was expecting a new Dr. Dre song to drop anytime soon? I mean Detox has been rumored to come out for years and hopefully this song is a step in the right direction for it to drop.

I’m from the West Coast and have long been a fan of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg so I still have hope for Detox.

Daily Mash – The Next Starf*cker

November 5th, 2010 by | Mashup |

Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg vs Starf*cker. An older mashup by The White Panda (it was made five months ago), but I really love it and it’s my birthday.

As a birthday bonus, here’s one of my favorite (and lesser known) Hoodie Allen songs, “Owen Wilson”. Hoodie raps over the same Starf*cker song used above, just reminds me of summer joy.
