Hidden Gem: Whole-Z *absolute banger remixes

January 30th, 2011 by | Dubstep, Electro, Hidden Gem, Remix |

Whole-Z hails from Burlington, Vermont and makes absolutely dope BANGER remixes. Spotted his “Phantom of the Opera” remix on TSIS a couple days ago and that became a MUST POST song and is a MUST DOWNLOAD.

Love that Whole-Z decided to sample a showtunes and a dark show-tune with Phantom of the Opera, throwing in dubstep as well. Plus Whole-Z put in Lil’ Jon saying what he’s famous for to make for a dope remix.

Earlier today a friend posted a video featuring Whole-Z remix the indie single, “Home” by Edward Sharpe. Another catchy dope remix from Whole-Z which you can listen to below. Download “Home”

Not so Hidden Gem: Dragonette

Dragonette is a Canadian ElectroPop group that started in 2005. They have released two albums and two EPs, most recently dropping their Mixin to Thrill EP in August 2010. Above is the music video for a song that should be on the radio!

The reason I’m writing about them is Dragonette was recently featured in two electronica songs: “Hello” with Martin Solveig, and “Animale” with Don Diablo. I like both these tracks and wouldn’t be surprised to see “Hello” on the radio very soon.

Hello (Original Mix)

Bonus: I’m still on the fence whether I like the original “Animale” or the Datsik remix which is more dubstep/electro.

Hidden Gem: King Fantastic

October 14th, 2010 by | Dance, Dubstep, Electro, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |
Los Angeles hip-hop group King Fantastic’s latest album, Finger Snaps and Gun Claps is beyond dope. The beats are crazy are unique and the rhymes are on point to create an electro chill-hop with west coast hip-hop roots. If your looking for something different in hip-hop, you found it with King Fantastic.

Stream the album and download below. I like almost all the songs, but my favorite because it’s all about Los Angeles and West Coast hip-hop, “Westcoastsynthesizerbeachbumgangstermusic”.

Magnetic Man – “Getting Nowhere” ft. John Legend

October 6th, 2010 by | Dance, Dubstep, R&B |

Magnetic Man is a live electronic music project consisting of dubstep producers and DJs Skream, Benga and Artwork. They signed to Columbia Records in February 2010 and the first single on the label, “I Need Air”, was released in July.

The reason why I found Magnetic Man is because they featured John Legend on their track “Getting Nowhere”. The song has John Legend’s incredible vocals going some awesome yet subtle dubstep that doesn’t overpower John Legend’s vocals. A must download!  Magnetic Man ft. Deadmau5 – “Raise Your Weapon”

September 23rd, 2010 by | Dance, Dubstep, Electro |

The track is nine minutes, a little long for my standards but it has great vocals and Deadmau5 doing dubstep for the 1st time. Plus it’s combined with Deadmau5 awesome electro! Thanks to FonC for the track. Your Weapon
