Pacific Festival Exclusive Review (Orange County, CA) 8 13 11
As we drove down the 5 freeway headed to the Pacific Festival, the excitement level was rising like a hot kettle on the stove. With a loaded lineup headlined by Snoop Dogg & Cut Copy and artists such as Calvin Harris, Phantogram, Ghostland Observatory, Steve Aoki, Fred Falke, Bag Raiders, The C90′s, !!! (Chk, Chk, Chk) on the schedule, there was no better place to be on August 13th, 2011 than Oak Canyon Ranch in Orange County, California. Having VIP Backstage access was sure to make it epic. What follows is just that. E.P.I.C.

Hidden Gem – Futurecop! *multi-genre dopeness

February 4th, 2011 by | Electropop, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Futurecop 550x320 Hidden Gem Futurecop! *multi genre dopenessIt’s impossible to categorize Futurecop! in one genre because each song I have heard from them is completely different. They first started off doing electro remixes to popular songs then began releasing original electronica music.

Here’s three of my favorite: “Tonite’s Hero” which is an electro/hip-hop song featuring Kat Dawson & Keith Masters. “Venice Beach” is an electro-pop jam that has great instrumentals and catchy vocals. “Ain’t That Fresh!” is a remix to one of my favorite 90′s one-hit wonder hip-hop jams, “I Wish” by Skee-Lo.

Introducing The White Rhino

1591211503 1.jpg 150x150 Introducing The White RhinoNo he’s not a mashup artist, but The White Rhino is a Brooklyn rapper who recently sent me a song that has a good upbeat college party rap thing going on, “Aviators”.

Never been too much a fan of actual aviators and listening to the song at times reminds me of the Bloodhound Gang if they did more hip-hop, but overall enjoyable part song.

Enjoy this electronic pop hop song especially if your going out to party/club/bar on thirsty Thursday.

Boston alternative electronic hip-hop band Split Second is back with a special music saga, Skub Til Taget, which is Danish for Push The Roof. Here’s what Jared from Split Second said:

Each Wednesday for the next five weeks we will be releasing one song from the saga. “Illmerica” is the Episode Two of the saga, with Innocence (which we dropped awhile ago) being Episode One.The songs will consist of house/dubstep remixes. Meanwhile we’ll be working on the next full mixtape, which will have songs such as Blood Diamond on it, of original sounds which will be out shortly. We’re have a lot of new material so hope people are ready for it.

Wolfgang Gartner is the beat that is used in “Illmerica” that Split Second has done a swell job rapping over and mixing up a bit. Can’t wait for the next song in their saga.

Heartbeat cover Brody Ryan – HeartbeatBrody Ryan’s manager reached out to us a couple weeks back with the song “Heartbeat”. Here’s a write-up from his management:

Today we are excited to present to you our newest release “Brody Ryan – Heartbeat“.  If you are new to Brody’s material I really suggest you take a listen to this song because it is a complete representation of who Brody is as a artist & a person.  It blends multiple genre of music from Rock, Hip Hop, Electro & so much more compacted in one song which describes Brody’s struggles to fulfill his dreams.

Brody has rocked shows with everyone from Mike Posner, Big Sean, Chip Tha Ripper to Roxy Cottontail. We plan to soon release an EP title “New Dawn, New Day” but in the meantime we will continue working hard to deliver exceptional tracks periodically.

audiodax 1 thumb 580x369 145818 Hidden Gem: AudioDaxElectro/Hip-Pop duo AudioDax hails from Fort Worth, TX and Chicago. First heard them back in August when Crystal Castles remixed “Thoughts” by AudioDax. I loved the beat behind it plus the rhymes were dope too.

Recently they dropped “Make Noise” which is a hip-pop track with a laid back electro beat. Over the summer they dropped a mixtape, The Annexation (download), which is produced by DJ Benzi and Sully.

Below are three of my favorites from AudioDax.
