An Incredible Weekend at Coachella (Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Performance)

April 19th, 2012 by | Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

We’ve saved the best for last! As many of you already know, Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre closed off an incredible weekend at Coachella. It was such a big deal that I had to make a separate post for just this set. So many great rappers made guest appearances with the hip-hop legends. The names include, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Warren G and most notably the famous Tupac hologram.

This was by far the best live performance I have ever seen. Not only am I a huge fan of hip-hop and grew up listening to many of these great artists, but seeing them all live on stage was something I will never forget.

The Tupac hologram which the whole world knows about by now looked so realistic live. It appeared that he was actually there performing “America’s Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg. Apparently, the movements, look, and overall Tupac hologram performance was copied from a show he did at the House of Blues in Hollywood back in 1995. The only thing different was that instead of saying “What’s Up LA?!”, the people behind the creation of the hologram changed it to “What’s Up Coachella?!” with his voice sounding exactly the same. It was truly and incredible process and something I feel is going to catch on at other festivals and shows with other dead artists very soon.

Below are my favorite tracks from the entire performance. For those of you going for Weekend 2, you are in for quite a treat. Please go to this performance on Sunday night instead of Avicii. Nothing against Avicii, he is great; however, he is always traveling the United States and it is extremely rare to see all these great rappers on one stage at the same time, especially with that Tupac hologram. I am sure that the people who went to the Avicii performance regret it. Don’t be one of those people. Enjoy!

50 Cent – “In Da Club”:

Festival Review: Lollapalooza 2011 (Saturday, August 6th)

August 10th, 2011 by | Concert/Festival Review, Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap, House, Mashup, Reviews, Rock |

World famous music festival, Lollapalooza celebrated it’s 20th anniversary in Chicago’s Grant Park and with style. It was my first one ever and I will definitely be returning again next year. With 125+ acts performing in the span of three full days, it was impossible see them all.  However, the amount of awesome DJ’s, rappers, bands, I saw was quite a legendary experience which I will never forget.

Day 2: (Supermash Bros, Mayer Hawthorne & The County, Joachim Garraud, Cee Lo Green, Atmosphere, & Eminem)

Lollapalooza Day 2 began so great and ended with a bang. I was there for much longer than I was on Friday and though it was still physically impossible to see everyone that I wanted to perform, I saw a lot. I started the day at Perry’s with mashup group, Supermash Bros. Check out my favorite track of theirs below called “Kisses and Thugs”

Super Mash Bros – “Kisses and Thugs” (Download)

Afterwards, I made my way to the Sony stage to see Mayer Hawthorne & The County jam out. I had never heard of them before so it was awesome to hear them. They were pretty legit too. Below is their track “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out”

Mayer Hawthorne & The County – “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out” (Download)

I saw Cee Lo Green for a little bit shortly afterwards and though he drew a good crowd, he was not the best performer in the world. He sounded nothing like his studio tracks. On the other hand, Atmosphere and Eminem killed it! They both not only got the crowd very pumped up but they played a wide range of their tracks, including many of their old classic ones.

I then returned to Perry’s to see Joachim Garraud perform. I was not very impressed with him as for the most part he did play other people’s songs and just dance around. However, one song he played which I feel is pretty solid is arguably his most popular track known as “We Are The Future” (featuring Poet). Take a listen to it below.

I then saw Cee Lo Green perform for a little bit although I was not very impressed with him. Though he drew a large and very energetic crowd. He just didn’t show much enthusiasm during his show. He sounded lazy and his studio versions are 3 times better than his live versions. Below is “Fuck You” which I know everyone and their mother and grandfather have heard this song, but it was one that truly got the crowd pumped up.

Right after Cee Lo, Atmosphere came on stage and c0mpletely rocked the place out. This white boy can rhyme and sometimes doesn’t get all the love he full deserves. His show was a great warm up for Eminem which could not have come at a better time! Check out his classic track “Trying To Find A Balance” which he absolutely murdered on stage!

Atmosphere – “Trying To Find A Balance” (Download)

Day 2 could not have ended any better. I saw Eminem to wrap the day’s festivities and he absolutely killed it. His 1 hour and 15 minute set included cameos by Bruno Mars and Skylar Gray. He performed all of his best songs, even his classic ones from the 1990’s. I could make a whole post just on Eminem’s performance it was that great, however, I don’t want to overwhelm you guys. He concluded his set with “Lose Yourself”, the popular 8 Mile track and a personal favorite of mine. Enjoy it below!

Keep a look out for the review of Day 3 of Lollapalooza 2011 which was arguably the best day of performances. Enjoy!

Eminem x Kanye West x Wiz Khalifa x Ron Pope – A Drop In The Ocean (DJ Breezy mashup)

May 1st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Mashup |

An awesome new mashup put together by DJ Breezy, which combines the vocals and  beat from Ron Pope’s “A Drop In The Ocean,” Wiz Khalifa’s “This Plane,” Kanye West’s verse from Brandy’s “Talk About Our Love,” Eminem’s verse from his group D12′s “How Come.” I first heard this mashup on‘s most popular tracks and I have not been able to stop listening to it. DJ Breezy has created a great mix and I hope to hear more from him in the near future. Enjoy!

Relax under the covers – The Kickdrums, Mike Posner, PJ Simas & Yeasayer

February 27th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Rock |

Above is a mashup/cover by produced by PJ Simas and performed by him on the instrumentals and rapping and Jorden Corey with the vocals. In the song they specifically focus on Skylar Grey’s part from “Coming Home” by Diddy Dirty Money and her feature in “I Need A Doctor” by Dr. Dre and Eminem. Download “Coming Home x I Need A Doctor” (cover).

Below are three other really good songs that are covers.

First is The Kickdrum’s cover of Nirvana’s song “Love Buzz”, big fan of the instrumentals and the vocals go along really well.
The Kickdrums – Love Buzz (Nirvana Cover)
Recently Mike Posner did a cover of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”. Before you dismiss Posner for what turned out to be a flop of a debut album save for a few pop hits, Posner returns to his awesome production roots for a relaxed pop cover.
Mike Posner – Rolling In The Deep (Adele Cover)
Lastly Yeasayer covers Seal’s “Crazy”. Seal is a great artist and while I don’t think the Yeasayer cover is better than the original, it provides a alternative/folk perspective of one of the best Seal songs.

Mainstream hip-hop update *Kanye, T.I., Game, Eminem & more

January 26th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, R&B |

Did you watch the above video yet? It’s pretty weird but I guess David Guetta really likes the little weird looking kid to have him lip sync over some mainstream hits David Guetta produced. Do you think it’s weirder than this video with 50 cent?

We almost always post up-and-coming artists but occasionally I like to update you on some of the mainstream acts putting out dope new songs. Here’s 5 songs from some of the best artists in the game.

Eminem – Syllables Ft. Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Stat Quo, 50 Cent & Ca$hi$
Game – Taylor Made (Feat. Wiz Khalifa) [Produced By Che Vicious]
Jay Sean – Hit The Lights ft. Lil Wayne
Kanye West – Eyes Closed
T.I. – Follow Your Dreams Ft. Shun Hendrix

Dr. Dre – “Topless” (featuring Eminem & Nas)

December 28th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Above is “Topless”, by Dr. Dre featuring Eminem and Nas. This is another leaked tracked off the much anticipated, Detox, album which has had its release date continually postponed throughout the last six years. Hopefully this is another sign that the “official” release of Detox is near. Enjoy!

T.I. – All She Wrote ft. Eminem

November 23rd, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

At first I didn’t like this song, mostly because I don’t like when Eminem goes psycho on some of the tracks he’s featured in. But after hearing the instrumentals and the flow of both T.I. and Eminem, this song is pretty good. Download

“All She Wrote” is expected to be on T.I.’s upcoming album, No Mercy, dropping Dec. 7.

Dr. Dre ft Eminem – I Need a Doctor

November 17th, 2010 by | Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Crazy beat that sounds like the song has some sound quality issues but that’s kind of what makes it so interesting. Really futuristic hip-pop song.

I Need A Doctor feat. Eminem & Liz Rodrigues (of The New Royales)

Detox is coming out; ETA: 2011.
