M.I.L.K. releases gorgeous debut EP ‘A Memory Of A Memory Of A Postcard’

May 13th, 2017 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Chill/Jam/Reggae, R&B, synthpop |

Copenhagen-based M.I.L.K. releases stunning debut EP A Memory Of A Memory Of A Postcard, a 6-track project filled with sun-soaked summer vibe synth pop with smooth and funky vibes. I discovered M.I.L.K. back in November when I heard “Following The Sun” on a random chill playlist and when his PR team hit me up earlier this week, I knew I had to let you guys know about him after hearing the EP!

Stream A Memory Of A Memory Of A Postcard visual EP on Spotify below. My favorites include “When You Feel Good”, “Following The Sun” and “U and Me”. (more…)

Club Kuru – Waiting For Me EP *sounds like Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco

April 17th, 2017 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Chill/Jam/Reggae, Hidden Gem, Rock |

The new EP from British five-piece band Club Kuru dropped last month, Waiting For Me, which has this psychedelic rock vibe that reminds me of one of my favorite contemporary psychedelic rock bands, Tame Impala.

Collectively, the band cites influences from modern day artists such as Mac DeMarco, Tame Impala and Connan Mockasin, to classic greats including Shuggie Otis, Vangelis, Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones. There’s a summer west coast vibe to their sonic output, mixed with some sleazy Americana, but ultimately the band is spearheading something unique; they’re putting their British take on a US heritage sound – and it works.

The new EP ‘Waiting At The Corner’ is an introduction to Club Kuru and you can stream it below! (more…)

Hidden Gem: Airpark *Groove-heavy rock/pop

March 6th, 2017 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Pop, Rock |

Nashville-based alternative rock/pop duo Airpark released their debut track “All The Time” and I was hooked on them. Inspired by minimalism, melody and groove-heavy percussion, bandmates Michael Ford, Jr. and Ben Ford launched the group in 2016, one year after their previous project The Apache Relay quietly called it quits.

Stream “All The Time” below. It’s off Airpark‘s first EP Early Works, Volume 1, out now via Eugenia Hall Records. In fact, stream the four-track EP, it’s pretty good!

Below find a bio on Airpark, links to follow them, and upcoming tour dates.

Travi$ Scott feat. T.I. – Animal

April 12th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Travi$ Scott has been making moves since he dropped his track “XX” produced by award winning Lex Luger. He has been meeting with many of the worlds best rappers, and on his latest hit, Animal, he got Grand Hustle’s very own T.I. to be featured on it. His fan base continues to grow, and he has yet to release his upcoming EP Owl Pharaoh, which is scheduled to release sometime before the Summer. Knowing that he has such a big fan base before his EP even dropped, I can’t even imagine how big he will be in the next months. Be on the look out, Owl Pharaoh and make sure to follow Travi$ Scott on twitter. @TrvisXX

Hidden Gem: Polaris At Noon *Electronic, Dance, Pop, Rock

February 3rd, 2012 by | Dance, Electronic Dance Music, Hidden Gem, Pop, Rock |

I discovered Polaris At Noon original music after attending Bootleg Bar in Los Angeles. Specifically they were the openers to the show, but we missed seeing them perform but did grab their EP, En Pointe (iTunes), on the way out. The next day, I put the CD in my car and was amazed at how awesome and unique their sound is.

This Costa Mesa, CA band is led by Jason Suwito, who has guided Polaris at Noon with a sound that seamlessly fuses electronic music with pop/rock. The music has garnered great esteem from fans of The Sounds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MSTRKRFT, and more. Personally I would compare them to a mixture of up-and-comer Capital Cities and Charlotte rock band Paper Tongues.

I love all the songs on their 5-track EP, En Pointe and highly recommend purchasing it! So below, stream and download some of the 11 tracks Polaris has uploaded to their soundcloud.

However, not giving you at least 1 song to download from their EP would not be right, so DOWNLOAD “On”, my favorite from the EP.

Make sure to follow Polaris at Noon on facebook and twitter!

Invigilators – #EP *UK hip-pop

February 2nd, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Drum & Bass, Electro, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

The Invigilators, who you may remember jupming onto the scene with tracks and remixes they did with Sonny Shotz and The Dean’s List. Well Invigilators are back with a new EP, titled, #EP, a 5-track project with UK hip hop up-and-comer Ceezlin.

Here’s what Invigilators said about the brand new EP:

The first two tracks are on a pop kick, and we’ve even sampled some Bjork and Dirty Projectors in the opener… The last three are on more of a Bass music vibe, a bit heavier and dirtier, designed for the casual weekend rave.

I love this project, because besides the unique production, each of the tracks sound different from one another.

Juan Deuce & Falside – The Mechanics EP

January 12th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Juan Deuce and Falside are two Providence natives who officially joined forces a little over a year ago. The subsequent fusion of their emerging styles has been nothing short of synergistic. Couple Deuce and Fal’s dynamism with the electrifying video work of Ricky Shabazz (“Guts” premiered on Rik Cordero’s The Hub Series two weeks ago), and you have yourself a bonafide trifecta.

This winter, Juan Deuce and Falside will prepare a full-length joint album. If The Mechanics EP is any indication, we’re all in for a treat. Here’s a favorite of mine off The Mechanics EP (DOWNLOAD), “Go DJ”.
Juan Deuce + Falside – “Hey DJ”
Another favorite of mine is “Guts” which is featured on Best You Never Heard 5 and the music video can be seen below. (more…)
