e-dubble – Last Man Standing (Freestyle Friday #54)

January 13th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

My favorite Maryland rapper, e-dubble, is back with Freestyle Friday. “Last Man Standing” has great production, a consistent feature of e-dub songs. The rapping is alright, but as a huge fan of the production, that’s what really wins me over in this song.

e-dubble – Robots Can’t Drink (ff #53 – final freestyle friday)

January 28th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

Freestyle Friday number 53, the final one in a year-long saga from e-dubble of making some dope music and releasing it for free each Friday. I can’t believe an artist can release good quality music every week for a year straight, and he did it all for free!

In e-dubble’s final freestyle friday he samples a song of his from his album, Hip-Hop is Good, “Drinking With My Headphones On” but in the song he mentions it’s a bit of a mashup because he uses some of the vocals from another song off the album, “Robot Pop Songs“. Without further ado, e-dubble’s final (and longest) freestyle friday, “Robots Can’t Drink”.

HOWEVER, e-dubble is going to continue to release free music with his upcoming mixtape, Written Thursdays, dropping in February. For all e-dubble freestyle friday, click here and for all our posts on e-dubble, click here.

e-dubble – Make Like A Tree (ff #52 = 1yr!)

January 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Above is a funny video of Aziz Ansari and the cast of Parks & Recreation. Can you guess whose song is playing? It’s e-dubble’s freestyle friday #7, “Hampden Parks“.

Back to freestyle friday, where we are in week 52! That makes it the one-year aniversery for e-dubble’s Frestyle Friday series! That’s beyond impressive for an artist to release one new song a week for a year… just amazing. The best part is e-dubble has produced, wrote and recorded all these songs and they have all been really good!

For e-dubble’s week 52 freestyle friday, Canadian hip-hop/R&B artist iSH joined e-dubble in the song, “Make Like A Tree”, which samples The Go! Team’s “Bust Out Brigade”. “Make Like A Tree” has epic-sounding instrumentals with the dope horns/drum mix, the rapping is dope from e-dubble and iSH and the vocals are awesome too.

e-dubble – Space Rivers x Grown for a Minute (FF# 50 & 51)

January 14th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

We fell a little behind on e-dubble but that just means you get two awesome tracks from him this week. Plus I discovered a cool video of e-dubble performing a song from his album, Hip-Hop Is Good (buy). The video is pretty funny to start because of the auto-tuned lyrics but I love how it picks up when e-dubble jumps in with the rock instrumentals.

Freestyle Friday #50 is called “Grown For A Minute” and e-dubble samples “Boy Lilikoi” by Jonsi. This is in my top 10 e-dubble songs and I enjoy the beat, hook and lyricism the most.

Freestyle Friday #51 is called “Space Rivers” which samples “I Follow Rivers” by Lykke Li. e-dubble produces another instrumental gem and keeping Lykke Li’s vocals makes for a more awesome alternative track.

Can’t wait until the next Freestyle Friday, I’m sure I’m not the only blogger who hopes this never ends.

e-dubble – Gone

January 3rd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Freestyle Friday #49 from e-dubble. I have been falling a little behind on e-dubble’s freestyle friday series and I’m very sorry for that. Once again, e-dubble produces a dope beat, sampling Matthew Dear’s track “I Can’t Feel” and turning it into a dope hip-hop jam.

e-dubble – Cold Stars (FF #48)

December 27th, 2010 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

e-dubble samples Sufjan Stevens “Star of Wonder” in the 48th Freestyle Friday for e-dubble. Sufjan Stevens is the dude in the picture above (sorta looks like Clive Owen).

Anybody else hoping e-dubble continues this Freestyle Friday series forever. I can’t get enough of how much I enjoy his songs more and more. Anyways, listen and download “Cold Stars” below.

e-dubble – Standing Tall (ff #47)

December 19th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Freestyle Friday week 47 has e-dubble sampling the Smith Westerns “My Heart”. One of the best instrumentals e-dubble has made among his Freestyle Friday’s.

Of course e-dubble is going to mention Cliff Lee joining the Phillies as part of this week’s freestyle since he’s a huge Philadelphia sports fan. Hoping e-dubble throws in that crazy comeback by the Eagles in their win over the G-Men.

e-dubble – Party With Wookiese (ff #46)

December 10th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Week 46 of e-dubble‘s Freestyle Friday series and he takes on a Hot Chip song, “Hand Me Down Your Love”.

The image above certainly isn’t partying wookies but after weeks of showing you the same pictures of e-dubble, it’s time for a change. Last week I put in a Billy Joel pic and this week, a bunch of wookies.

Anyways, I’m loving the beat in this song and how e-dubble mixes it up at certain points; loving the honesty from e-dubble (and how he’s drunk in the outro). Overall just another good track from e-dubble.

e-dubble – Palm Trees (ff#45)

December 3rd, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Freestyle Friday #45 for e-dubble and he samples The Piano Man. The song is called “Palm Trees” and samples “Only The Good Die Young” by Billy Joel.

e-dubble – No Brakes (ff #44)

November 29th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

e-dubble samples Kurtis Blow in the 44th week of e-dubble’s freestyle friday “No Brakes”. As usual, the song is great, as e-dubble samples a classic hip-hop song.
