Mixtape: Ground Up – “The Get Up”

March 9th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

It’s finally here! The much anticipated new mixtape The Get Up from Philly hip-hop duo Ground Up dropped earlier this week and I am impressed. I’ve continually endorsed them from the beginning and they improve with each new track and project they drop. Every single track is fire! The rapping is amazing over some incredible beats from a slew of great producers. The songs on the tape range from an old school and new school hip-hop feel, making the entire thing a joy to listen to. My favorite tracks off the tape are below. Enjoy!

Ground Up – “Buried Alive” (featuring Vanessa Winters)

February 20th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Philadelphia hip-hop duo Ground Up has sent us their newest track “Buried Alive” which is the newest single off their upcoming mixtape The Get Up, due to drop on March 6th.

I have to say I am once again very impressed with this newest track. Bij Lincs, as usual, does an amazing job on the boards creating an awesome sound. Vanessa Winters is sensational with her vocals on the chorus and Ground Up’s rapping is always enjoyable to listen to.

All in all, this track gets me even more excited for the full mixtape to drop. Enjoy!

Ground Up & The Lawsuits – “Turn Around” (Video)

January 5th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

Ground Up and The Lawsuits get together to revamp “Turn Around”. This time it’s an acoustic version that is quite enjoyable to listen to with nice visuals added to it. Unfortunately there is no download think but I don’t think it will matter because I am sure this will be a track that will put you in a great mood. Enjoy!

Ground Up – “Boulevard” (Download)

Above is the new visuals for “Boulevard” off Ground Up‘s recent mixtape Romantic Comedy. I love this song and when they add in a cool music video too, it builds even more credibility for this up-and-coming hip-hop group who continues to shine!

Radical Something – “Freedom” (Download)

This west coast group shot their newest music video for “Freedom” in New York city. Radical Something has always been great at providing chill songs to vibe to and I especially enjoy when they include great visuals with it as well. This group is going places and I am glad I found them while they are still up-and-coming!

Ground Up – “Boulevard”

November 27th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

New leak from Philly hip-hop duo Ground Up. The name of the track is “Boulevard” and is on their upcoming mini-mixtape, Romantic Comedy which is set to drop this Tuesday. This is quite an enjoyable track to listen to, with legit rapping and amazing instrumentals. This is perfect for cruising down the street with the windows down.

We’ve been following Ground Up for well over a year now and each time they come out with a new track, they continue to mature and improve in all aspects of their music. I look forward to Romantic Comedy!

Ground Up – “The Get Down” (Mixtape)

September 29th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Last week, Philadelphia hip-hop duo Ground Up released their most recent project, The Get Down. Once again they provide a very laid-back and relaxing feel to their music. Their lyricism is great and the chill instrumentals all around create a great vibe to listen to.

This 16-track mixtape is filled with slow, smooth head-nodding all throughout. Great to cruise down the streets with the windows down in your car. They continue to impress with their old-school style. As this type of hip-hop has slowly faded away over the years, Ground Up continues to keep it relevant and makes it even better.

My favorite tracks off The Get Down are below. If you like what you hearing (which I know you will), then download the entire mixtape.

“No Thanks” (prod. Bij Lincs) (Download)

“Fucked Up” (prod. Melee) (Download)

“Going on” (featuring Aziz) (prod. Bij Lincs) (Download)

“13 Floor” (featuring Farz & Bij Lincs) (Download)

“Scars” (prod. Big Z) (Download)

Ground Up Releases “Up Late” Mixtape

April 9th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

We know that Up Late by Ground Up came out on Tuesday and has already gained lots of success. However, we wanted to do a review of this awesome mixtape. This group has definitely changed things up a bit since their first mixtape, Girls Who Smoke Cigarettes, which too was a great mixtape. Check out some of my favorite off the new mixtape below:

“Livin’ Life” (prod. by Bij Lincs)

“Nice” (featuring Peedi Crakk)

Bij Lics does a great job on the boards, producing a majority of the tracks on this mixtape and DJ Don Cannon hosts this mixtape which is great for gaining extra exposure. Remember Asher Roth? He had the same host when he got his start. Give Ground Up a little bit of time but they will become household names when it’s all said and done. Before the Bigs Radio will be interviewing them on Wednesday. Keep a look out for that. Enjoy!
