However, only 1 member of The Hood Internet spun,  STV SLV as I experience when I saw them last time as well.

Even with 1 dude spinning, Hood Internet took over the event, with people cramming in the main room of the venue to dance to their indie-electronic/hip-hop mashups. Hood Internet spun for over an hour and he didn’t just press play like I saw White Panda, Steve Aoki and many other DJs do.

Hood Internet also had rapper Kenan Bell come on stage for an original track they worked on together so it was nice to see that Hood Internet has diversified their music with remixes and originals added to the live set with the mashups.

My 3 favorites from the night although I love all their mashups live, truly a fun dance party!

The Hood Internet and Wallpaper. live at Troubadour

The Hood Internet and Wallpaper. live at TroubadourI was surprised by how entertained I was after seeing this show for about 1 hour. Here’s my recap of last Friday’s show at the Troubadour featuring The Hood Internet and Wallpaper.:

Got to the Troubadour about 5 minutes into The Hood Internet‘s set and immediately I notice how almost everybody is dancing and has their hands in the air. Although only one-half of The Hood Internet was present for the show but he still got the party started with upbeat mashups that showed his good ear for mixing vocals of a hip-hop song with instrumentals from a song in a completely different genre. I was a bit surprised The Hood Internet wasn’t the headliner since they have more facebook fans than Wallpaper but with only one of two members performing, it was still highly entertaining and fun. Here’s some of my favorites which I enjoyed hearing live.
Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (The Hood Internet Remix feat. Hollywood Holt)
The Hood Internet – Ignition (Keep It Remixing Louder) (R. Kelly x Major Lazer)
The Hood Internet – Good Ol’ Fashion Rump Shaker (Beastie Boys x Matt & Kim)

The headliner was electronica/dance hip-pop group Wallpaper., who I saw perform three songs, most of which were real smooth and had some really catchy elements. He’s got great stage presence, with him and his 4-piece band in a real interesting combination that included two drummers and two vocalists. Ricky Reed, the lead singer, had a variety of vocal sounds from singing to rapping and the other vocalist as the back-up vocals and sidekick worked out well in “Shotgun”, which I have been listening to many times since hearing it live. Here’s my two favorites I heard live from Wallpaper.
Wallpaper. – “Shotgun”
Wallpaper. – “Gettin Drip”

Overall I understand why Wallpaper. was the headliner, his music was upbeat, a little more engaging and through three songs, I slowly became a bigger fan when I heard them open with “Shotgun”. Being a huge fan of mashups live with all the dancing and fun catchiness, this was a good show for great value at a legendary venue.
