Download: Hoodie Allen – Feel The Love

August 27th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

New FREE track from Hoodie Allen called “Feel The Love”, here’s what he had to say about it.

Like a lot of my fans, I am always searching for new artists and new music that excites me. On past mixtapes, I’ve been very influenced by the indie and pop music I’ve discovered online and it has led to me putting my own creative flip on a lot of tracks and making it my own. When I was in London in May, I heard this amazing track by Rudimental called “Feel The Love” which was hugely popular there but seemed to be pretty unknown in the states.

With the help of my longtime producer RJF, I bring you “Feel The Love” giving my fans the classic upbeat indie hop vibes they’ve come to love. “Feel The Love” is very much a thank you to all the fans and sites for all the great things they have helped us achieve in the past year. It’s a perfect track to mark the end of summer!

Listen and download “Feel The Love” below, which samples Rudimental‘s “Feel The Love”.

New FREE download from Hoodie Allen called “Hey Now”. It’s produced by Something Silent, who I’ve never heard of before and not Hoodie’s usual producer, RJF. Nonetheless, the song is a hot one and a MUST-DOWNLOAD!

This song was actually going to be on All American but Hoodie decided to just hold on to it for a little and release for free instead. “Hey Now” is just a BANGER: really fun party track with some EDM and trap influences on the production side so turn it up loud and bother your neighbors! Stream and DOWNLOAD “Hey Now”.

Hoodie Allen recently announced an 18-city tour called the Excellent Adventure Tour with G-Eazy. Here’s the flyer below. (more…)

Hoodie Allen – All American EP + Bonus Music Video

April 10th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Reviews |

After much anticipation, Hoodie Allen finally drops his All American EP. I have to say I am very impressed. This is his first big time release and things are looking up in a very bright way. The EP includes eight new tracks with the beats all put together by his longtime producer RJF. As a whole this is a very solid EP that is sure to bring even more credibility to Hoodie’s music. This artist cares so much about his fans that he even took the time to write a very heart felt letter showing his appreciation for all their support. Make sure to check out this EP below. You won’t regret it. Enjoy!

Purchase on itunes.

Bonus: With the release of the All American EP, Hoodie Allen decided to make his fans even happier by releasing a music video to the track “No Faith In Brooklyn” (featuring Jhameel). The song is awesome and it’s even better with a legit music video added to it. Enjoy!

Hoodie Allen – No Interruption

March 29th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

From Hoodie Allen:

Since the end of the summer I’ve been working in the studio non-stop on my first retail EP titled All American. Set to drop April 10th, All American is a totally original record (yes that means no samples!) and is the first record I will have ever put up for sale on iTunes.

So this is something completely new for me. I’ve built most of my following online based around 2 ideas –1. free mixtapes and 2. creative use of sampling. With this new project, I’ve worked really hard to expand upon the sound that my fans love while actually creating all the songs from scratch.

Today, I’m proud to present you with “No Interruption”, the first single and music video off of All American. I think this is my favorite song I’ve ever made and the coolest video I’ve ever been apart of. We really set out to make something cinematic and super fun to watch—mucht hanks to the director Charles Alan Whitcher, for creating a concept that keep sup with the high energy of the song.

Video: Hoodie Allen – “James Franco”

October 27th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Here’s what Hoodie Allen told us when he dropped his latest video off in our inbox:

So back in July when I released Leap Year (DOWNLOAD), I let the fans decide which videos they wanted to see off the project. Overwhelmingly, people wanted to see visuals for the song “James Franco”. We went all the way to Hollywood to shoot this in an effort to find the man behind the song…turns out he wasn’t too hard to find.

Leap Year is a must-download mixtape and I’m happy that as a fan he chose the song “James Franco” to make his next music video for. The fact he flew out to LA to shoot the visuals in Venice Beach, Hollywood and other parts of Los Angeles I have frequented only adds to how much I enjoy this video.

Hoodie Allen – Leap Year (mixtape)

July 26th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

We all know and love Hoodie Allen and have really been looking forward to the release of his much anticipated project, Leap Year. Well it’s finally here for all of you to enjoy. All the tracks are awesome and Hoodie is really carving himself into a great rapper. Check out what he has to say about it below:

I began writing Leap Year when I decided to leave my job at Google and follow my passion. The thirteen track album is a look into my world and what it means to step out of my comfort zone. I wanted Leap Year to mirror my life and experiences–it’s fun, crazy, sarcastic, and introspective– its me growing up on record.”

He continues by showing love for the blogs who have supported him from the beginning by saying:

I want to quickly emphasize how important having the support of Before The Bigs has meant to me. It almost goes without saying because we’ve developed real friendships from this shit but it means a lot! Any attention I have ever received has been because of the blogs that support me and spread my music all over the world. It’s because of your support that I’ve been able to be this person and that’s why to this day I won’t ever stop personally emailing you all my new projects.

Listen to the album below and download it if you like what you hear which I am sure you will. Enjoy!

Hoodie Allen – The Chase is On (Video)

July 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Hoodie Allen drops the video for “The Chase is On,” the first release of his upcoming mixtape Leap Year due out July 26th. The video is pretty bumpin’ and the track is definitely a huge step forward for Hoodie. In case you were wondering, the girl in the video is Sofia Black D’Elia from MTV’s Skins, and according to Mr. Hoodward, “The premise behind “The Chase Is On” is something everybody can relate to. If you’ve ever spotted someone and been instantly attracted to them then you know what I’m talking about.” Check out the video after the jump

Vonnegutt – $Free.99 (Mixtape) *must-download!

June 1st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix, Rock |

Vonnegutt returns and with an awesome new mixtape. $Free.99 provides great diversity with many great features and covers of classic songs. Popular tracks such as “Day ‘n’ Nite”, “Find Your Love”, “Runaway”, “Dammit”, and more are covered by the Vonnegutt with awesome features such as Theo Martins, 2AM Club, Sonny Shotz, OnCue, Hoodie Allen and more create awesome verses on these tracks. This is truly an amazing mixtape which further exposes the great talents of Vonnegutt and beyond. If you don’t know who any of these people are now, you certainly will after hearing this mixtape. Below are my favorite covers on this mixtape:

“Day ‘n’ Nite” (featuring Theo Martins & D Woods):
This cover is of Kid Cudi’s first ever big hit. With Theo Martins and Kyle Lucas killing it as usual with the rapping and D Woods providing a great chorus. This is truly and enjoyable track to listen to. Check it out for yourself

“Runaway” (featuring 2 AM Club & Sonny Shotz)
This Kanye West cover features 2 AM Club & Sonny Shotz of The Dean’s List and is my favorite of all the great covers on this mixtape.

“Dammit” (featuring OnCue, Hoodie Allen, & Shanell)
Another awesome cover of “Dammit” by one of my favorite 90’s rock bands Blink 182. This track features great versus by OnCue and Hoodie Allen with Shanell dominating the chorus. Anyone who loves Blink 182 track will enjoy this cover as well.

Love the covers above? I thought so. There are many more awesome tracks and covers on this mixtape worth listening to. I highly recommend you download the whole mixtape as you will have it on repeat for a while!
