Finally got around to writing about the latest release from Magic Bronson, this duo is making some interesting alternative/indie electro pop vibes that are pulsating, rhythmic and grab a hold of you and keep you listening. 2016 was a bumpy year and that’s why Magic Bronson decided to draw inspiration from the news and their own real life experiences to create “Nervous.” Stream it below. The latest Hidden Gem I got for you is London outfit Kyko. Formed in 2014, this young pop band is crafting a sound that keeps getting better. They just released “Nature” which is very Vampire Weekend/Paul Simon‘s Graceland-esque and I LOVE IT! They released “Nature” earlier this month and before that have had excellent releases on their soundcloud.
I discovered this band through a reddit post about people looking for music influenced by Graceland and African artists that influenced Paul Simon in making that classic album. I first heard Kyko’s “Animals” and fell in love with the tropical laid back pop/rock vibe that is very easy to groove to. Once I heard “Nature” and the several other songs on their soundcloud, I was hooked and hand to feature them on BtB.
Stream “Nature”, “Native” and “Animals” below. (more…)
“The Answer” from up-and-coming indie electro pop act Avec Sans, is for fans of Icona Pop (who we love!), Purity Ring and Sleigh Bells. We fell in love with Avec Sans upon hearing their first original track, “Heartbreak Hi” (featured on Best You Never Heard 7), which reminded us of DWNTWN. Their second original track, “The Answer”, displays the band’s harder edge and sees darker electronic-dance sensibilities coming to the fore.
Stream and download “The Answer” and it’s remix from Bill & Will.
Earlier today, my favorite Los Angeles indie electro pop band, DWNTWN, released The Red Room EP (iTunes). Two of the song “See My Eyes” and “Transition” we’ve heard before but “Stood Me Up” and “Look The Other Way” are two brand new indie dance tracks that create a must-listen project from DWNTWN.
Stream “Stood Me Up” and “Look The Other Way” below and enter your email for free download of the must-listen 4-track EP.
Louisville indie electro-pop band The Pass has released a video for the upcoming single on Melt, their 2nd LP which comes out November 6. “Without Warning” has an upbeat electro-pop/rock sound that is upbeat indie dance fun.
Watch the video to “Without Warning” below. (more…)
We got a new Hyena song that slipped through about a month ago. However very few other blogs have gotten behind this, besides one of our favorites, Earmilk.
“Wander” is another indie electro-pop track that just weaves together so well. San Diego indie-dance duo Hyena get lead guitarist and backup vocalist to The Killers, Dave Keuning, to lend a hand on the track, which only enhances the production quality.
First artist is called Theme Park which is a really fun place to go to, much like the song “Milk”. It’s got an indie electro-pop feel, but it’s relaxed, fun instrumentals and a nice hipster dancing song. Facebook / Twitter
Next we got Delorean, who are blowing up quick with their lounge electro-pop. I’m a super fan of the instrumentals and the lyrics are simple enough to have trouble not liking. Here’s “Deli” which I have heard in at least 2-3 hip-hop samples. Facebook
“When Saints Go Marching” was my favorite easy song to play on piano when I played back in high school. When Saints Go Machine is an indie electro-pop group with high-pitched vocals, interesting instrumentals and a chill synth-pop sound. Facebook / Twitter
LectroLips were first featured here back in the Spring in one of our first editions of our soundcloud’s best feature. Their latest song “Voyeur” is unusual, sounds a bit like industrial electro-pop, lyrics similar to some of those spoken word songs by Madonna. Listen before you download. Facebook / Twitter
Lastly let’s throw up some Holy Ghost! who have a synth-pop sound that reminds me of the 80’s but which of the above songs doesn’t remind you of the 1980’s electro-pop music scene. But hey, history repeats itself. Facebook / Twitter
Sorry to bunch up four emerging indie electro-pop artists into one post but at least you get to discover more than 1 artist that you might not have heard of (except Phantogram). Above is Phantogram performing “Let Me Go” live. It sounds just a little bit better than listening to their non-live version below.
First we got Fritz Arnaude who samples some of Phoenix to start off the song gets Skizzy Mars spitting some bars and overall love the instrumental. This is the kind of song that builds up so well you really can’t wait to hear what’s next. Fritz Arnaude – Possibilities [Ft. Skizzy Mars]
Next we got Phantogram with “Let Me Go”. I love Phantogram becuase of how catchy, complex and intriguing their instrumentals are. Close your eyes and listen to the instrumentals and tell me your not hooked. Plus the vocals are nice. Phantogram – Let Me Go
I downloaded this Stepdad almost a month ago and loved it because of the instrumentals. Listening to it again in the car today, I kept thinking how great the instrumentals could be in a mashup. Plus I really like the weird lyrics. Stepdad – My Leather, My Fur, My Nails
Lastly, Twin Shadow is becoming a new favorite of mine. Below is my favorite from them, “At My Heels”, which is a chill song, reminds m relaxed Two Door Cinema Club instrumentals but with American flavor (their from Brooklyn). Twin Shadow – At My Heels
Are you ready to DANCE!?! Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs I have heard in the last month or so and it’s a good song because it’s tough to define it. This can be retro-futuristic, electro-pop but whatever you want to define it as, you can’t deny wanting to shake your hips a little while listening to it.
It’s just a really interesting song, it is kind of mainstream with over 350,000 youtube views but if your looking to dance in a more chill atmosphere, like in your room or hanging with some friends, play this song and you better shake your hips too!
Above is the 3 minute music video version, but the 5 minute original version is so much better. Download
By the way, Chilly Gonzales is also a producer with his album and film, “Ivory Tower” being of the same name. Look him up and I think you will find he’s pretty interesting, much like the song above.
I love this song by the Polarsets, a british indie electro-pop band from the UK who sounds a bit like Two Door Cinema Club with “Just Don’t Open Your Eyes Yet”. I could see somebody doing a club type remix on this and it getting blasted over the radio. I sure hope that happens because more people need to hear this song. Download
To be honest, I have heard more of Polarsets recent stuff and this song is different than their other songs, but I hope Polarsets do more upbeat indie rock/pop stuff like “Just Don’t Open Your Eyes Yet”. To hear Polarsets other stuff, check out their soundcloud.
