Introducing Proof I Exist *Solo Indie Pop/Rock from Cleveland

March 8th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Pop, Rock |

352664037 1 600x600 Introducing Proof I Exist *Solo Indie Pop/Rock from ClevelandThis almost got lost in our inbox, glad I found it! Here’s a solo artist from Cleveland known as, Proof I Exist. He recently released his debut LP, Suburban Sci-Fi, which is being played on local college radio according to the artist. It is a one-man DIY effort with a full-band sound encompassing many genres, including: indie pop/rock, garage, psychedelic, and alternative.

There’s a few songs I really like, “Modern Day Love Song”, “Trespassing in Heaven” and “Euphoria at 4 AM”. However there’s also a couple tracks worth skipping like “Waiting for Paradise” whose title would be more fitting being called “Waiting for this song to end”. Overall each song brings a different vibe and style yet having distinct vocals. What stands out the most to me is the guitar instrumentals, which is real catchy throughout the project.

Listen and download Proof I Exist‘s Suburban Sci-Fi below.

I had the pleasure of catching their opening residency at the Central, seeing the band perform live for the second time. Here’s my favorite from them, “Once You Leave”.

New Hands – “This I’ve Heard” x “Through The Woodwork”

I don’t know much about this indie-pop group New Hands, but what I’ve heard so far, I really enjoy. They provide a very interesting sound that after a little maturity as musicians, can really be something special. Ill let them explain the rest of what they are about from an email they sent us:

“The group go together in highschool, inspired by an array of styles and sounds. This collection of influences we see as colours; colours that make us want to dance and create our own music. This is our common language, a way to communicate without insults. Now in University, ready to exit our teenage years, we thought it fitting to have our first release.”

This first release they are talking about are awesome tracks of theirs called “This I’ve Heard” and “Through The Woodwork”. Take a look for yourself. I’m sure you will agree that this group, even after just one track, has something special in the works. Enjoy!

Hidden Gem: The Bynars *Boston Synth-Pop

20110413 155410 996274 Hidden Gem: The Bynars *Boston Synth PopThe Bynars reached out to us in Mid-May, I listened to their stuff within a couple weeks later and decided I would do a blog post because of their catchy sound. Although The Bynars can be categorized as synth-pop, the Boston band has some grooving rock elements which shouldn’t turn you off to their music if you don’t like pop.

In their e-mail to us they attached their last three singles off their self-titled album. I really like all the songs they have sent me so here are their last three singles. Check out their full album on bandcamp.
The Bynars – Can You Hear It
The Bynars – How Does It Feel to Be in Love
The Bynars – Asking Your Mom for Money

Hidden Gem: The ACBs *fun indie pop

February 11th, 2011 by | Hidden Gem, Music Video, Pop |

The ACBs are a fun indie pop/rock band from Kansas City as evidence by the above song, “Boy Like Me”. I had to quote Confusion from P&P who said it best, “these guys are somewhere between Passion Pit and Phoenix“. I would throw in a little Vampire Weekend as well.

I hope these guys don’t have to put out a bunch of free music like Kansas rapper XV until they get noticed. Below listen and download “Street Fighter II” and “Boy Like Me” off The ACBs latest project, Stona Rosa.

Polarsets – Just Don’t Open Your Eyes Yet *indie electro-pop

February 7th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Electropop |

polarsets 500x305 Polarsets Just Dont Open Your Eyes Yet *indie electro popI love this song by the Polarsets, a british indie electro-pop band from the UK who sounds a bit like Two Door Cinema Club with “Just Don’t Open Your Eyes Yet”. I could see somebody doing a club type remix on this and it getting blasted over the radio. I sure hope that happens because more people need to hear this song. Download

To be honest, I have heard more of Polarsets recent stuff and this song is different than their other songs, but I hope Polarsets do more upbeat indie rock/pop stuff like “Just Don’t Open Your Eyes Yet”. To hear Polarsets other stuff, check out their soundcloud.

Hidden Gem: The Holidays

Cactusholidaysband Hidden Gem: The HolidaysMost people love the holidays, so why not enjoy a band called The Holidays. Shouts to Indie Shuffle on finding The Holidays, an indie pop/rock band from Australia.

The Holidays debut album, Post Paradise, was released in Australia in September 2010 and received many positive reviews from the Oceanic music media. The Holidays have a relaxed flow in their tracks and remind me a little of Vampire Weekend and The Police.

Below are two of my favorites off Post Paradise, which you can purchase off their myspace.
