New project from King Fantastic, SocioPoliticalPimpTalk. It’s a 4-track EP that’s worth listening to as it has that trademark West-Coast Synthesizer Beach Bum Gangster Music that KF has been bumping forever. Stream and DOWNLOAD the EP below.
For Los Angelino’s, head on down to The Viper Room tomorrow to catch King Fantastic Live. Details below. (more…)
Next Tuesday, May 8th, King Fantastic will be releasing their SocioPoliticalPimpTalk EP. In the meantime, Troublemaker made this edit of “G Sharp” using Zeds Dead.
This is the first song off electronic rap duo King Fantastic‘s upcoming EP, SocioPoliticalPimpTalk. Stream “G Sharp” below and support KF by purchasing it on iTunes.
Three new covers from three artists I adore in DWNTWN, King Fantastic and Polaris At Noon. I became fans in three different ways, attending a King Fantastic show, falling in love with a DWNTWN song and picking up a Polaris At Noon CD while attending another artists show.
Click more to listen and download DWNTWN‘s cover to Calvin Harris‘ “Feels So Close”, King Fantastic‘s cover of Ice-T‘s “Squeeze The Trigger” and Polaris At Noon‘s cover to MSTRKRFT – John Legend collabo hit, ”Heartbreaker”. (more…)
So happy to see some new material from electronic hip-hop duo King Fantastic who continues to bring their WestCoastSynthesizerBeachBumGangsterMusic to our attention. The video they just released, “Bonfire Sessions” goes well with the song. I expected a scene of them all getting fucked up on the beach circled around a bonfire but they didn’t throw the obvious at us and once again put together a high-production quality video for all to enjoy.
Click more to watch the official video to “Bonfire Sessions” and stream the song below. The song is off KF’s album, Finger Snaps and Gun Claps (iTunes).
King Fantastic also dropped a music video to “On Q” a couple months back. I think the song is solid, not their best work though. The video is crazy and is definitely NSFW as half-naked women and Killer Reese One are playing russian roulette plus there are some titty scenes and people shooting bullets at heads. Yea it’s a crazy video but then again King Fantastic‘s music is crazy good, so it works well. (more…)
Haven’t busted out a cover song post in a while but here’s five dope covers ranging from gangsta rap to rock/pop to a classic by Simon & Garfunkel. Let us know which cover song you like the most!
Justin Baron is a newcomer that I found out about a week ago with his cover of OneRepublic‘s “Good Life”. I love that he takes it in a different direction with more emphasis on the piano and vocals. OneRepublic – Good Life (Cover) by JustinBaron
A few months ago, LA indie/alternative band Local Natives performed one of Simon & Garfunkel‘s classics, “Cecilia”. I’m a huge fan of the original song as it is so when I heard the cover, it was hard to ignore how awesome it is to hear it covered. Loving the instrumentals and the group vocals. Local Natives – Cecilia (Simon & Garfunkel cover)
Once again Collin McLoughlin continues with the cover song. He’s such a talented vocalist and solid composer with these covers yet and hearing him perform cover after cover makes me question his song-writing ability and originality. Collin if you are reading this, please release an original soon! Listen and download “Stereo Hearts mashup” which mixes “Lazy” by Bruno Mars and “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Hereos. 5-star! Stereo Hearts Mashup by CollinMcLoughlin
So this cover is a year old but I only heard it within the last couple months. Hard to deny Mumford & Sons being one of the best folk rock bands today and Vampire Weekend being equally talented in whatever genre you want to stick them in. Loving the banjo and folk rock guitars in the song plus the vocals stand out with Marcus Mumford’s vocals. Download Cousins (Vampire Weekend Cover)- Mumford & Sons
Lastly my favorite electronic hip-hop duo King Fantastic put this song out a while ago covering Ice T with “Colors”. It only popped up on soundcloud a month ago and I had no doubt in my mind I would blog about this with some other dope covers. This is the only hip-hop song in the post, loving the instrumentals, rapping is dope, overall a quality song if you are into gangsta rap and/or like the electronic. King Fantastic – Colors (Ice T Cover)
If you want a better idea how talented Justin Baron is with his “Good Life” cover, check out the youtube video after the jump and watch his “Cooler Than Me” Mike Posner cover too! (more…)
King Fantastic is back with a new song!!! After seeing this electronic hip-hop duo twice in the last 10 months or so, they have become one of my favorite acts with influences from electronic and old school West-Coast hip-hop to form #WestCoastSynthesizerBeachBumGangsterMusic.
Here’s “Locals Only”, the first song off their upcoming EP, Death Of Summer, due out August 30. Loving the instrumentals from DJ Troublemaker while Killer Reese One continues to give us reasons why that chill West-Coast hip-hop will never die, especially when you have it over these beats. Locals Only by kingfantastic
The EP will include three new songs, remixes and much more! Music video trailer for “Locals Only” after the jump.
