Hidden Gem: Mystika Music *hip-hop collective

May 24th, 2012 by | Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Everybody who loves music of any genre loves finding the hidden gems. Recently I have come accross Mystika Music, a production company originally started by the Hip-hop group The Problemaddicts. Mystika Music has a line up of some super talented artists including; The Problemaddicts, Moke & Tone, Vorheez, Team Genius, & DJ Theory. Vorheez, member of The Problemaddicts has recently started working on his first solo album. The first single “Agoraphobia” dropped within the last month and impressed me enough to start giving all artists on the Mystika Music label a listen. Vorheez has a unique flow thats backed up with incredible lyrics. Make sure to check out Mystika Music’s Facebook page and also their Soundcloud page.

Serge Didenko – MYD

May 24th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Moscow, Russia born, Boston, MA based Hip-hop artist/producer Serge Didenko has built a New England buzz with the release of his self produced, Clinton Sparks hosted mixtape “Bag of LaundryTo Ditch”. He has opened for the likes of J. Cole, Fabolous, Big Sean, Mac Miller, Machine Gun Kelly, and many more.

Serge recently brought us his video for his song entitled “MKD”. Crafted by UK producer Evian Christ, the beats eerie synths, slow tempo based drums, and low frequency bass drops collectively formulate a dark atmosphere that compliments Didenko’s lyrical recollection of his present day struggles with money, women, and escape of a violent past.

He currently resides in Rochester, New York, working on two projects; one will be solo project that will drop this Spring/Summer, and the other will be with his dude Tugboat. Here’s “What’s Love”.

Check out my Q&A with him below, guaranteed you’ll love his flow. (more…)

Hidden Gem: Dom *electro-pop

June 8th, 2011 by | Electro, Electropop, Pop |

Dom has an upbeat electro-pop sound with interesting synths and vocals less annoying than some of those high-pitched vocals other electro-pop groups are singing these days. Once again, influences from the 80’s guide this 4-piece band from Worchester, Massachusetts.

Here’s my 2 favorites from them plus an acoustic version of their song “Burn Bridges”.
