Miami Horror – “The Shapes” *artsy concept album

March 24th, 2017 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Electropop, New Wave, synthpop |

One of my favorite Australian bands is back with some great new music with their new concept album, The Shapes. After a two-year hiatus spent writing, experimenting and exploring, Melbourne’s Miami Horror return with their new conceptual project The Shapes.

The Shapes comes to life as a sonic / art experience and sees the band delve deep into rhythm and percussion with influences ranging from the art pop and lyrical wit of Talking Heads to Caribbean funk and African beats.  The first taste from The Shapes, “Leila” embodies the glitzy, glamorous sunshine of LA, draped in 80s synth melodies and topped with those iconic Miami Horror vocals, it’s a fitting first single.

Video: Wunder Wunder – Coastline *upbeat retro psychadelia

April 3rd, 2014 by | Alternative/Indie, Music Video, Rock |

We initially introduced you to Wunder Wunder through “Sure Stuck” which was a very fun track that I wanted to listen to while cruising on a long board through a beach town. Their latest “Coastline” makes you want to ride your longboard skateboard to the beach.

This song makes me want to run to a beach and see how far I go until I’m annoyed by all the salt water and call it quits and say, “fuck sand” as I inevitably will say at some point when I go to the beach. Anyways, shouts to Noisey for premiering Wunder Wunder‘s latest video for “Coastline”, it’s a fun beach rock retro psychadelia type of song that’s easy to enjoy.

Watch “Coastline” below.

Download: Wunder Wunder – Sure Stuck *must-listen lo-fi chill rock

March 5th, 2014 by | Rock |

With an amalgamation of lo-fi squelch, dreamy guitars and warping synths, Wunder Wunder is a true aural trip into the west coast sun. “Sure Stuck” provides a kaleidoscope of melodies, they provide the sonic colour and boldness that most music seems to forget.

Wunder Wunder is the creative conception of Australian music producers, Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant. After many years of producing and writing electronic music, the duo have given birth to a new project that adventures into their love of colourful psychedelic ’60s and ’70s pop.

Stream and download “Sure Stuck” below and make sure to keep an eye out on their upcoming releases.

“Sure Stack” reminds me of Arcade Fire (Reflektor edition), LCD Soundsystem and !!! (Chk chk chk) in how the song finishes.
