krisp Hidden Gem: Krisp *Miami chillwaveKrisp is a 4-piece indie/dance/chillwave/dance rock band from Miami. @FreedzyBaby sent me their stuff after seeing them open for Reptar recently. I listened to all their soundcloud stuff and I got to say, I’m impressed with the fun upbeat catchy electronic rock vibes.

Hidden Gem: Dangerflow *Miami’s hottest hip-hop band!

197920822 640 600x337 Hidden Gem: Dangerflow *Miamis hottest hip hop band!Dangerflow is a 5-piece hip-hop band who I consider one of the best hip-hop bands in Miami! Granted if you asked me to name more than 3 hip-hop bands from Miami, I probably couldn’t answer that yet this group has not only caught the attention of the South Florida community but the Miami Heat has even used some of their music, specifically on Heat Live TV.

I saw Dangerflow live a couple weeks ago and instantly became a fan of the hip-hop fusion band which has influences in hip-hop, rhythm and soul to form a truly unique soothing style. If they improve their live shows with some female dancers or something to kind of distract from seven talented male musicians on stage, then they just might become mainstream acts.

Here’s Dangerflow‘s latest project, Win Lose or Die. My favorites on this album are “She Got It In For Me”, the single “Win Lose Or Die”, and “The Crown”.

Introducing ANR *alternative like Miike Snow and Passion Pit!

August 3rd, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie |

Introducing ANR *alternative like Miike Snow and Passion Pit!Miami duo ANR has a real unique sound. Without a facebook page, it’s hard for me to find much on them. Their sound is a bit spacey and reminds me of a less catchy mix between Miike Snow and Passion Pit. In May, ANR released their debut album, Stay Kids, which you can check out on iTunes or you can stream the whole album on soundcloud which they have made available on their website. Here’s my two favorites off the album, “Stay Kids” and “Big Problem”:

After the jump, watch the official music video to “Stay Kids”.

Amtrac – Venice

June 22nd, 2011 by | Dance, Techno |

Amtrac VeniceAmtrac continues to take up more and more of my party playlist with his latest single “Venice.” The track slowly builds before crescendoing 30 seconds into the song, leading immediately into a 3 minute funky dance party.

If you’re in Florida, make sure to catch Amtrac when he’s throwing down at one of the clubs on South Beach. If you’re somewhere else, follow him on Twitter and Facebook, and be sure this song is a part of your party jams.

Rich Kid Sound System – Not Far From Home

May 5th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

rkss Rich Kid Sound System – Not Far From HomeIt’s been a little of a month since I’ve heard from Rich Kid Sound System but they are back with an awesome new track. This song is called “Not Far From Home” and it has the laid back, summer, hip-hop sound to it that we know and love from the group. This is off their upcoming EP which was supposed to drop on April 20th but has since been pushed back a little bit. This new track provides a positive start to the summer and a very enjoyable beginning of summer holiday, Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy!

more black & yellow madness *reggae cover + 3 new mashups

February 17th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Dance, Mashup |

Uh oh, more “Black & Yellow” remixes. However the above song is an awesome cover by Cris Cab with a reggae feel.

Anyways, the first song below is the dope alternative/reggae cover by Cris Cab (video above). I love the acoustic guitar, the reggae drums and overall the different direction Cris Cab takes it.

Then we got 3 mashups, a superbowl mashup from Mother Earth Remixes, The Hood Internet mixing “Black & Yellow” with The Go! Team and Cake Effect mashing “Black & Yellow” with Rusko.

Above is the video for “Summertime” by Miami’s Finest (download). It samples Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks”.

This hip-hop/R&B; trio have been best friends since 1997 and decided to form Miami’s Finest in June 2010 after they graduated college. Much like how we started our blog as we were on our way out of college, I relate to Miami’s Finest and believe with enough time they can make a big impact in the music industry.

In September, Miami’s Finest released thier debut mixtape, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (download). Below listen and download “Jungle Fever”.

Prospect of the Week: ¡MAYDAY!

mayday music video Prospect of the Week: ¡MAYDAY!

This Florida-based alternative hip-hop crew is Prospect of the Week because recently they released their Lords of the Fly mixtape (which has an awesome diverse unique sound) and on October 12, their long awaited sophomore studio album, Stuck on an Island, hits stores.

In the mixtape they have some really good Lil Wayne remixes, but the songs I truly enjoy are their originals including “Groundhog Day” ft. Cee-Lo Green, “Miles To Go”, and “Robot Rock (Freestyle)”. Fun fact, ¡MAYDAY! was Weezy’s backing band on “Da Da Da”, “Get A Life”, and “On Fire” which they remix on this mixtape.

With the Miami-natives upcoming sophomore album coming out soon, I only see this group growing in popularity, espcially when they start touring after their album drops.

If you like ¡MAYDAY!, check out their facebook and look out for thier upcoming album, Stuck on an Island.

Read more to see the mixtape cover art and 26-song tracklisting. Enjoy!
