Video: Miike Snow – “The Wave”

March 17th, 2012 by | Music Video |

Miike Snow‘s new video for “The Wave” is available now. Their new album Happy To You is now available on iTunes, and will be available everywhere on March 27th.

The latest video from Miike Snow is real interesting, once again them putting out videos that are different and provoke thought in us, usually asking the question, “What Does This All Mean?”. Watch the video to “The Wave” below.

Here’s a nice chill mashup from Frail Limb Purity. I was actually surprised how well the vocals work on Treasure Fingers‘ remix to Miike Snows’Animal’. Give it a listen and download below and show FLP some love on Facebook!

Miike Snow – Black Tin Box x Paddling Out x Devil’s Work (Alex Metric remix)

January 26th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Ambient |

Three new Miike Snow songs released in the last month, including a remix to my favorite of them all, “Devil’s Work“. The first song “Black Tin Box” has a spacey kind of sound that is good to chill to. “Paddling Out” is more upbeat and has great production as it seems like a good upbeat hipster lounge song. Lastly Alex Metric did a remix of “Devil’s Work”, one of my favorite recent Miike Snow tracks.

Stream all three new tracks below!

Kids Don’t Stand A Chance (Rocky Business vs Miike Snow vs Vampire Weekend)

May 16th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap, Mashup, Mashup Monday, Remix |

An A vs B mashup with rapping/remixing from Rocky Business. I’m a huge fan of Rocky Business as I think they are a more rock but also more raw alternative Theophilus London.

Here they take a different step by doing a mashup/remix using Miike Snow remixed instrumentals with remixed Vampire Weekend vocals and some instrumentals. Then MC $trictly Busine$$ on the rhymes and some dope mixing from Jonny on the Rocks.

indie update *Joywave, Starf*cker, Bedouin Soundclash, Young Empires, More Amor

March 30th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie |

Somebody told me we hadn’t done an indie music update in a while so here’s five indie songs that I downloaded within the last couple months, that I really like and have yet to post. As usual, most of these bands are emerging musicians in the industry.

First we got 5-member mashup group out of Rochester, New York, Joywave, who utilized indie electro-pop artists Miike Snow and LCD Soundsystem to create a mashup that just has wonderful over-lapping sounds and has this great instrumental flow. “Betelgeuse” comes off their latest mixtape 77777 (download). (via IndieShuffle)

Next we got a new Starfucker track, “Death As A Fetish”. I have never been the greatest fan of the vocals but have almost always loved the instrumentals Starfucker assembles.

I have known about Bedouin Soundclash since 2007 when my friend Felon Fresh gave me a great introduction to indie/alternative music in a mix she made for another friend of mine. “Mountain Top” instantly became my favorite Bedouin Soundclash track with the instrumentals and the lyrics which make we want to climb atop a mountain for some strange reason.
Bedouin Soundclash – Mountain Top
I realize most indie music I enjoy because of the instrumentals that catch my ears then the vocals not being annoying is the 2nd reason I enjoy the track. Young Empires make original tracks as well as dope remixes and are still a bit raw with what seems like a fairly simple sound at the moment. However I see Young Empires only getting better as they better figure out their music style. (via TBIS)
Young Empires – Rain of Gold
Lastly comes a group that reminds me of Oasis, especially when it gets to the chorus. More Amor is a young indie pop group and in “Young Hollywood” they sing about falling into the Hollywood scene. More Amor is a mix of Oasis with Owl City but they have an originality that we should keep an eye on. (via P&P)
