Mike Posner The Layover front large Mike Posner The Layover (Mixtape)It’s finally here! After hearing many leaks off of it and with much anticipation, the entire mixtape The Layover by Mike Posner has officially dropped. This is a great project which really helps bring Posner back into relevance. He has upped the production level and has even included some amazing features such as Bun B, Twista, Casey Veggies, Machine Gun Kelly, RJD2 and many more.

This is something that his debut album 31 Minutes To Take Off  lacked and for that it suffered a little bit. Now that he has included awesome rappers and amazing production work, there is no question his popularity will continue to rise at a higher level then it is already at. Enjoy my favorite songs from the mixtape below!

Machine Gun Kelly and Mike Posner collide to create straight fire with “On Fire”. It is part two of Mike Posner’s famous track “Drug Dealer Girl” from his mixtape A Matter Of Time. This is off MGK’s upcoming project Rage Pack and the beat is so awesome with both guys absolutely killing it in their versus. Truly a very catchy and enjoyable track to listen to.

Hey Champ remixes and features *Passion Pit, Mike Posner & much more!

heychampsilhouette 600x437 Hey Champ remixes and features *Passion Pit, Mike Posner & much more!I’m a huge fan of Hey Champ, they may be my favorite music trio from Chicago. A couple weeks back, we introduced you to them with their best original material. Now here’s five of the best songs they are either featured in or they have remixed.

Let’s begin with their electro-pop remix to Mike Posner‘s “Cooler Than Me”. It’s got a pretty cool vibe, mostly enjoy this because I love the original so much. Although I prefer the original, this is a minimalistic remix that provides a change of pace than all the other versions of “Cooler Than Me”. DOWNLOAD

Next comes a song Hey Champ is featured in, “Getting You Off”, which is by 80kidz. Another pop song with smooth enjoyable instrumentals, almost reminds me of Empire Of The Sun but more relaxed vocals. Download

Next comes one of my favorite Passion Pit songs, “Little Secrets”, which Hey Champ remixed by changing the instrumentals to a downtempo vibe. If you like Passion Pit, you will really enjoy this! DOWNLOAD

Concert Review: Machine Gun Kelly at The Key Club (Hollywood)

Machine Gun Kelly Mike Posner Mat Musto KEY CLUB 8282011 Concert Review: Machine Gun Kelly at The Key Club (Hollywood)Lace-Up, the popular term used by cleveland bred rapper Machine Gun Kelly. I’ll admit, at first I was not the biggest fan of the kid. However, slowly over time his music started growing on me. Once I saw him live, I immediately realized how big he is going to get.

I got to the Key Club in Hollywood where he was performing late and only saw him on stage for about 20 minutes. However, that’s all I needed to see. He is so electrifying when he performs as he enjoys climbing walls,  spraying water into the crowd and joining his fans by stage diving all while spitting his awesome rhythms.

The place was packed to near capacity; and it was on a Sunday night. Mat Musto and Mike Posner added to the fun with their contribution to the show as well. I didn’t get to the club in time to see Mike Posner perform and did not even know he was there. However, Mat Musto added as a great feature to MGK’s set.

Below are a few of the songs I heard from MGK which I especially liked the most. Enjoy!

Rusko – Shut Up ft. Mike Posner + Everyday (video)

July 26th, 2011 by | Dance, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Music Video, Remix |

Rusko Shut Up ft. Mike Posner + Everyday (video)Rusko and Mike Posner combine forces to create “Shut Up”. It’s a silly track but the obvious intent is for this to get a dope remix that will land in the clubs and then mainstream radio. With the support both these artists have, I can easily see this happening so remember where you heard this first.

Either way here’s “Shut Up”, loving the instrumentals, loving how Mike Posner isn’t fucking with much importance on the vocals like he did on his debut album. So do you think this can be on mainstream radio or does it need a remix like “Cooler Than Me” experienced to get on the radio?

Rusko ft. Mike Posner – Shut Up
I feel guilty giving you one song, especially when it’s a mainstream song like this that’s been blogged about everywhere. So if you haven’t seen the music video to “Everyday” by Rusko, watch it after the jump and listen & download the song below. Just listened to the remix by Netsky, so listen and download that as well below.

Dubstep Remix *Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Mike Posner, Darude, Maka & Waeck

Calvin Harris So Close Nero Remix 600x338 Dubstep Remix *Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Mike Posner, Darude, Maka & WaeckListed in the blog title are the artists being remixed in dubstep. Honestly I’m always on the fence with dubstep and dubstep remixes as it’s the kind of music genre that you can only take so much of. Have you ever met somebody whose favorite music is dubstep? Neither have I, which proves my point. Anyways, here’s five dubstep remixes.

Calvin Harris – Feel So Close (Nero Remix)

Maka & Waeck ft. Farisha – Breathe (Vexare Remix)

Skrillex – Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (The Juggernaut Remix)

Darude – Sandstorm (Vaski Remix)

Mike Posner – Please Don’t Go (Butch Clancy Remix)

Mike Posner – The Scientist (Coldplay cover/remix)

May 19th, 2011 by | Pop |

Mike Posner 01 600x450 Mike Posner The Scientist (Coldplay cover/remix)Mike Posner just dropped a new track to SITR which is a cover/remix of the Coldplay classic, “The Scientist. Basically Posner stripped the song of the slow instrumentals that played well with the amazing vocals of Chris Martin and turned “The Scientist” into something new, different and fresh for today’s music standards, synthesized vocals with electronic/dance type upbeat instrumentals.
Mike Posner – The Scientist (produced by Mike Posner)
I’m not sure which I like more the original or the cover, as they both have different flavors. However, knowing that Mike Posner produced this really is awesome as I think that’s one of his greatest assets.

I’m torn on my feelings with Mike Posner. I have seen him perform twice, met him briefly once, thought his mixtapes were incredible, must downloads! Then was let down by his debut album taking the safe route with a typical R&B release. Then Posner gets Lil Wayne to rap over a song and do a music video with him, furthering my disgust for Posner and the record label for possibly forcing him to do this. Then today he comes out with a cover/remix to one of my favorite Coldplay songs, “The Scientist”. Let me know your thoughts on Mike Posner in the comments or on twitter.

Here’s a video of Maestro Knows with Mike Posner, you can see Mike Posner making the song above around the 7 minute mark. (more…)
