Last Monday, I saw Mind the Gap, Young Hunting and Jhameel at The Bootleg Theater as part of Jhameel‘s December residency at the Silverlake/Echo Park area music venue. Read below for my review. (more…)
New song from Mind The Gap, who were featured on our latest version of Best You Never Heard. Truly a talented group of individuals, “Find My Way” has this upbeat sound that anybody can get into. Keep an eye out on this LA band, they are going places!
BYNH 5 feature Mind the Gap began their February residency at The Central SAPC last Tuesday in what will be a rewarding experience for music fans on the westside of LA hoping to catch the up-and-coming alternative band.
I had the pleasure of catching their opening residency at the Central, seeing the band perform live for the second time. Here’s my favorite from them, “Once You Leave”.

We are proud to present our 5th edition of Best You’ve Never Heard, which features 18 songs from up-and-coming artists in a variety of genres that we love. We set stricter guidelines this time in choosing emerging musical talents, only selecting artists who, as of December 28 2011, have less than 5,000 facebook fans. We also made sure to select artists that very little to none of our friends liked and knew about, to further strengthen the idea that these 18 tracks are the Best You’ve Never Heard.

I know I’m a bit late on this review but on Halloween night, I was blessed to see three very talented music groups perform. It all went down at the Bootleg Theatre in Silver Lake. I saw the Black Crystal Wolf Kids, Weapons of Audio, and Mind the Gap kill it on stage. Everyone was in their costumes and it was a very great vibe f0r an awesome concert.
Black Crystal Wolf Kids are an indie rock cover band who impersonate many widely popular alternative rock groups with style. This group has a solid following and loves getting very involved with their crowds at their shows. They just love to enjoy themselves and joke around on stage which makes them even more legit. This show featured songs by the likes of Foster the People, MGMT and many others. My favorite was their cover of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”. They sounded so much like the real band. All I have is the live version for now but it is still very enjoyable. Check it out below.
Next up was Weapons of Audio, this was my third time seeing them live and though their drummer Grey couldn’t make it to this show, they still do an amazing job on stage. My favorite track of theirs live is one that has been at the top of my list for a while. Check out the future radio hit “Night Light” below.
Finally to cap off a great night of music came a very talented an unique band called Mind The Gap. The are an indie pop-rock band whose group members are a Korean, a Sri Lankan, a Mexican, and a Jew from Cleveland. Their stage presence was great an they even dressed up in costumes that matched their stereotypes and their response to it was “we are who we are”. Check out my favorite track of theirs below called “Once You Leave”. Enjoy!
