Mike Ballz – The World According To Ballz (must-listen mixtape)

January 17th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Before you ignore this post because of his artist name, Mike Ballz is actually a legit artist who has underrated production with solid flow and quality features in his latest project, The World According to Ballz (DOWNLOAD). The Boston rapper has a unique style and isn’t your typical white rapper.

Below stream and download The World According to Ballz. My favorites are “One Man” featuring MuZ, “Happiness” featuring Sid Sriram, “The Road” featuring Jordan Brown, and “Never Stop” featuring MuZ.

Introducing Mike Ballz

September 20th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |
Newcomer to the rap game Mike Ballz comes in hard on his own production. While Mike is new to the hip-hop game, he is by no means new to music, he started rapping during middle school as a joke and then quickly realized that he was good at it. With his background in musical instruments, it was easy for him to pick up on the production side, and with his skills, he produced, wrote, and sang this track.
Starting off with smooth piano Mike takes over the track at around :10 seconds with commanding flow. Muz of the group Crossover Kidz follows with an impressive verse. With a tight chorus and hook to bring the whole track together, sung by Mike.

Be on the lookout for Mike’s EP dropping in the next couple weeks, with a mixtape slated for release at the end of October and the music video for this track coming sometime around the beginning of October. Be sure to check in on Before the Bigs to keep you updated on Mike’s work.

HIdden Gem: Crossover Kidz *catchy Hip-Pop duo

February 4th, 2011 by | Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

Crossover Kidz is a musical duo based out of Boston and currently attend the Berklee College of Music. Music producer Droobee was in search of a rapper he could make music with and eventually was referred to MuZ. Within of meeting, they were producing and recording tracks right out of their dorm room closet.

Shout out to Arthur Johnson for telling me about Crossover Kidz months ago. At first I wasn’t that much a fan but then Crossover Kidz started a “MuZic Mondays!” series in late December and I have noticed steady improvement on the quality of their music.

Below are a couple of the best Crossover Kidz tracks.
Crossover Kidz – World Tour ft. Tai Taylor
Crossover Kidz – I’m Alright ft. Luca B
